Try removing the drums and checking the mechanism. It could be that dust from the brakelinings is preventing free operation of the brake pads.
Clean out the drums and if the brake pads appear to be stuck a light thump with a hide mallet should release the sticking.

You should have a hydraulic brake booster. a common failure item on fords and also would cause your symptom. the burning smell, I would go back and recheck all the brakes. Maybe a problem with the e-brakes, or an issue with the front or rear calipers. Possibly a damaged steel or high pressure brake line. Good luck.

Burning smell coming from offside rear wheel Honda crv 2004

Could be incorrect brake piston seal size that is binding and not allowing the brake to release when not in use.. OR (more likely) your handbrake cable / mechanism is (partially/fully) locked on that wheel..

Mazda5 rear right brake gets hot, sometimes smells burning.

Try simple/free things first: put car on jack stands, turn wheels to see if you hear pads/shoes dragging after brake pedal on/off,pads should free-float after brake pedal release and if not releasing (by the way,was any brake fluid spilled accidentally on the pads??),more than likely bad caliper;sure the pads are correct ones (thickness) for your car rotors/calipers???. Hope this helps. Alberto

Rear brakes make a grinding sound when the brake pedal is being released. The noise is gone after the pedal is fully released but then comes back again after the brakes are applied again and then being...

I would say that the grinding you hear is metal to metal, pads to rotors. You need a brake job NOW before this gets worse and more costly. Good Luck Friend.

Smell of burning rubber on offside rear wheel. Intermittent. Kia Ceed 113bhp 1.6

I think you are on the right track with the hand brake/ parking brake. A vehicle can still drive if its slightly engaged and you would notice some sort of burning smell from the area. Try engaging the brake and disengaging the brake a few times and see if it releases completely. There may be an issue with the line causing it to "stick" here and there. Good luck! Cars are complicated but troubleshooting the small things before spending hundreds in labour is always wise!

I just replaced all disk and pads, along with the two front calipers, after driving about 5 miles i smelled brakes burning, come to find out it was the right rear wheel and disk were burning hot, what all...

If it didn't warp the rotor and you just put the pads on, just remove them and sand them with 60 or 80 grit sand paper they will be fine. You will need to replace the brake hose though, I recommend all of them be replaced. This is probably is what causing the brake to grab. the deterioriate from the inside, causing them to clog and not let the fluid reurn and release the caliper.

do a test drive with the main ABS fuse out of the engine fuse box and drive the car to see if this is the problem. It is ok to take the ABS fuse out of engine because it does not affect you from not stopping. You need to read link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lock_braking_system

Toyota Camry 2005-Brake pads noise problem

The rear brakes should last from 30000 to 60000 miles or 50000 to 100000 kms. So something is wearing out your brakes too fast. Are you doing the work or some shop. I also assume you have discs and not drums since you mention pads and calipers. I am not certain but usually you need a tool to turn the pistion in when putting in new pads. I would make sure the pads are releasing properly by raising rear of car, stepping on brakes a few times (with engine off and try see if wheels are free by spinning by hand, also try to use handbrake a few times and release it and see if wheels spin freely. Maybe rears always applied. Notice burning smell, are discs glazed from heat? Are you using really cheap pads. Also check the proportioning valve which will decrease pressure to rear brakes during hard braking. Do you notice rear wheels squeling during hard braking. Do you have antilock brake system? Also are you using good quality pads and rotors.
