Interior handle mechanism suburban doors problem

Drivers interior handle mechanism will not open the door from the inside.
Opening the door from the outside works.
When taking apart the door panel, I find if I pull the mechanism/bar
by hand it opens.
The mechanism seems in good shape. But lacks leverage to open.
The interior door handle itself is fine.

Both front doors have this problem.
Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks for the information,

I will look more closely at the handle release. On one of the doors the plastic handle is now

broken because of pulling hard in the handle to open the door.

    Thanks

Opening mechanism inside front door not working - How do I get door open?

Parts are available at a salvage yard. Getting the door open is going to be your problem "unless" you pull the seat out and have room to take door panel off to open the door with the mechanism manually.

The front passenger door will not open with the outside door handle or the interior door handle. after taking the inside door cover off, i discovered the interior door handle is broken and the connector...

The locking mechanism is manufactured with carbon composite and plastic levers that the door handles attach to. It is hard to tell what parts that you do need. Remove the passenger side door panel. It will have some screws and maybe a bolt on the inside handle. The panel has snap plug on it and they fit into designated hole in the door. After getting the door panel off, be careful here, there are sharp metal edges that can cut. There are some peep hole to see the rods and connector inside the door. If the plastic hooks on the door locking mechanism are broken. The hole door lock assembly will need to be replaced.

Try your local wrecking yards and tell them what type of vehicle you have and year. Also, state what door it is and what you will need.

Now, if the interior door hand hook on the lock mechanism isn't broke off. The get a cloths hanger and straighten it out and attach it to the opening latch on locking mechanism. This will give you inside temporary handle, while you are trying to fix the door. Safety. GB...stewbison

Is there a piece that connects the door handle to the mechanism that opens the rear door on the 93 chevy suburban? our handle moves freely without opening the door

There is a rod that goes from handle to the latch. They are held in by plastic pieces that can come off. If you can somehow get the door open, you can remove the screws and pry off the door panel so you can get a better look

The drivers front door will not open from the inside. The interior door handle won't activate the mechanism to open the door. Yet, the exterior door handle will open the door. Please advise! Thank you!

It could be the latch, but look to see if the interior door handle rod is still connected to the latch assembly. You will need to remove the interior door panel.

2001 Suburban 1500

try to remove your door panel and check to see if your latch is still connected. some times the rods will drop off. That or your catch on the door itself has come loose and dropped down enough to cause the door to stick and will not open from both inside or out

Drivers side door, not opening

VERY common issue.. the handle being replaced is ok.. but the actual metal rod that connects it to the latch needs bent a little to make it more responsive, what happens is over time this rod (which is bent slightly) will straighten, and the operator pulls harder on the handle which eventually brakes.. then replacing the handle will solve it for a while, until the trend repeats itself... VERY common, I have fixed hundreds in the shop so far...
