Replaced spark plugs, runs rough jerks, acts like it does not want to start or stay started. Engine light on
SOURCE: replace spark plugs with plat core plug
Platinum plugs are NOT recommended for the Echo. The heat ranges are different. Put the right plugs in it (buy them from a Toyota dealer) and see if your problem vanishes. I get this quite a bit, customers put in new plugs, and it runs worse than it did before they changed the plugs. Note that ALL Toyota engines have a specific plug engineered for each engine. Platinums do not work unless the engine was designed for it. Same with iridium and NO Toyota runs well on the "split fire" plugs. If the problem persidts, change the coils around, see if the misfire "moves" to a new location, and you get a DTC P-0300, P-0301 and P-0302. If so, your coil pack may have failed, BUT, do the plugs first.
