Went to start my 2009 Dodge Journey and it will start however the odometer reads no bus. The windshield wipers are constantly on, no interior lights work, no headlights, no wipers with switch. I can drive but nothing electrically is doing it's job. Any ideas? I have checked all fuses, wiggled all main harnesses, and even tried the "disconnect your battery for half an hour" trick.
Vehicles with more then one module , PCM - engine control module , BCM - body control module , EBCM -anti lock brakes , SRS - air bag module etc... all communicate on a serial data communication network .
"NO BUS" means that the communication system between the computers has stopped. How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN If the shop can't find a problem your not going to , very complex . There have scan tools and lab scopes to test .

Mine began like that and then none of the locks and windows worked. Now it is at the dealer (again!) waiting for parts. This is the 5th time a recall defect has been fixed..
SOURCE: How do I check the transmission fluid on a 2009
below is info from the owners manual. I do not have a repair manual, but you may be able to buy one that would say how to check the transmission fluid on the 3.5L. It sounds like they don't expect you will need to check it. Fluid Level Check - Vehicles with 3.5L Engine The automatic transaxle has no dipstick and is dealer serviced only. Fluid Level Check - Vehicles with 2.4L and 2.7L Engines Use the following procedure to check the automatic transaxle fluid level properly: 1. Park the vehicle on level ground. 2. Run the engine at curb idle speed for a minimum of 60 seconds. 3. Apply the parking brake fully. 4. Place the shift lever momentarily in each gear position ending with the lever in PARK. 5. Wipe the area around the dipstick clean to eliminate 6. Remove the dipstick and determine if the fluid is hot or cold. Hot fluid is approximately 180°F (82°C), which is the normal operating temperature after the vehicle is driven at least 15 mi (24 km). Hot fluid cannot be held comfortably between the fingertips. Cold fluid is at a temperature below 80°F (27°C). 7. Wipe the dipstick clean and reinsert until seated. Then, remove dipstick and note the reading. a. If the fluid is hot, the reading should be in the crosshatched area marked "HOT" (between the upper two holes in the dipstick). b. If the fluid is cold, the fluid level should be between the lower two holes in the area marked "COLD." If the fluid level is low, add sufficient fluid through the filler (dipstick) tube to bring it to the proper level. Do not
the possibility of dirt entering the transaxle.
overfill.

If the e-brake cable is attached to caliper the piston is threaded. I use a very inexpensive tool i bought at the parts store . you will need to turn and press the piston at the same time. be aware that the two different sides are threaded oposite of each other. If the e-brake cable is not attached to caliperr the a c clamp should do the job.

Gauges will initially read as normal when started, but then nothing. Every warning light on the dash is on. No radio, rear screen. Defrost system and A/C works in all positions. I'm pretty confused.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm at my wits end...
yep and its been in the shop for a week and a half and they claim they cant find an issue.
Journey is having the same "no Bus" problem. Dealership replaced anti lock braking system module after a 2 month wait for parts but there is the same intermittent problem. Driving me nuts . It is as if the car is possessed. Scheduled to go back to the garage on Thursday Nov 10 2022 but I am skeptical as to whether they will find the problem. Any other suggestions.
Success. Mechanic found a problem with Connector Can Buss part # 68230877aa. Replaced the can buss and for now life is good. I hope this helps someone else.
