Where is the voltage regulator located on 92 chevy lumina euro

My alternator is fairly new but the car wont start without a jump

  • mnimtz Apr 03, 2009

Once in awhile the car won’t start. I have to get a jump for it and it will run fine for several weeks. It’s been to two garages and hooked up to GM software they can’t find a problem. Everything on the car is either new or in good condition. Now it’s staring to happen everyday. What’s the problem with my little car?

The voltage regulator is built into the altenator if the vehicle runs fine after jumping it it may be the battery or a bad connection at battery there may also be a draw on the battery

Chevy Lumina. Does a P0006 code indicating low voltage on the fuel shutoff switch or is there one on a Lumina. I'm getting mixed answers. Is this more related to a fuel pressure regulator?

Fuel Shutoff Valve according to all the articles, however the switch operates the valve and the valve tells tales back to the ECM. You would need a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose against known voltage values.

Can a Volage Reglator on a 2000 Chevrolet Lumina keep it from starting?

the voltage from the big red wire is battery power
the smaller wire will not have voltage until the alternator is running
one wire goes to the charge light to the voltage regulator
check that the voltage regulator is operational
better still get an accredited auto electrician to check the charge circuit , voltage regulator and alternator for operation

My battery to my 84 chevy caprice is not charging. i got a new batery and altenator but it still wont charge.i have to jump it off to get it to start. i dont even know where the voltage regulator is...

the voltage regulator is built into the alternator, have you check the alternator connector for damage or corrosion check with a test light for voltage at the red wire that plugs into the alternator that is in the 2 wire plug connector as well as check the large red wire for voltage as this wire is the feed wire from the battery.you don`t say if this is a new or used alternator.if you have a voltmeter that is the best way to check for the proper amount of voltage at the test sites.the battery must have a minimum of 12.6 volts to start with higher is better.to test the voltage regulator need the engine running and you need a voltmeter to tell properly if it is working.at the back of the alternator their is a hole that looks like the letter D this is where you use something like a cotterpin and insert it into the hole you should feel a tab, push lightly on the tab and ground the cotterpin to the side of the alternator using the voltmeter you should see the voltage start to rise and hear it start to charge.the battery voltage and the feed wire at the alternator as well as the smaller red wire at the plug connector should be the same.charging voltage should be about 14.5 volts.

I have a 92 chevy lumina van. It ran fine with no problems then one day wouldn't start. It cranks over and I put a new battery in it. The fuel pump kicks on fine and the there is spark in the plugs. The...

This is a long shot, but I had a similar problem and it ended up being the that water pump locked up and caused it to jump time. Adjust timing and give her a crank.

1994 Chevi Lumina APV (van)

If you havent replaced the battery I would start there. If the battery has a dead cell in it then it will effectively remove the charge that your alternator is putting out causing your vehicle to stop running because it has no power. I would jump start the car without the battery hook up and remove the cables and see if it runs that way. If it does you have a bad battery.

No, cehcek that the terminals aren't corroided.
Maybe even remove them and clean them up.
Then try jump start.
