Recently, my ABS light has been coming on occasionally when I go from a stop to accelerating. If I release the gas and then push it again, the light goes away. Also, my car will **** forward slightly when braking or when releasing the brake. The light has been coming on about half the time when I accelerate for the last 2 weeks, and the jerking has recently started and been getting worse. Is it safe to drive? What could be the problem/ How much will it cost to fix?

I hace a 19196 sable-the problem is the transaxle speed sensor-this part sends all speed info to the computer ..-First symptom(speedometer stops working and then transmission shifts erratacially and power steering becomes hard and engine light comes on..The computer on this all eletronic car cannot send proper signals to the speedo-trans-power steering and other functions without knowing how fast or slow the car is going..Have the SPEED SENSOR mounted on top of the tranaxle replaced and all will be well.Part is not to expensive.labor can vary depending whether you have 3.0OHV or DOHC engine-some cars have to have exhaust dropped to get at it-Good Luck All

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.

Check your transmission fluid. You could be alittle low. Check it hot in Park while running.

this is actually a wire problem.
get the necessary wires replaced. and then get back with results

You describe this as an acceleration problem however, if the car does throw a check engine light it should be recorded in system memory so it can be pulled by scanning with and OBDII scanner. It sounds as if the car is being starved for fuel on acceleration. Check the fuel lines for kinks as well as check the fuel pressure. The problem could be a faulty fuel pump that has yet to completely die.
