Remove and Install Headlight Switch in 1994 Lincoln Town Car

Have you checked the headlight relay, first?

There are no flat rods on my 1994 Town Car. This is only on the newer models produced in 1998 and newer.

The headlight wiring and radio wiring is getting in contact and causing the short.Both the grounds needs to be checked.Because when headlight is off,the radio work's fine.As soon as the headlights are turned on,the radio goes in scan mode.Its clear indication of radio and headlight wiring issue.The wiring's are getting in contact with ant metal surface or both the radio and headlight wire are coming in contact,where they should not.I suggest you to check the headlight and radio wiring diagrams for your lincoln town car.Here is the direct link.Click the link below :---Check out all the 3 links one by one.Radio wiring diagram for 1997 LincolnTown Car?http://technoanswers.blogspot.in/2012/02/radio-wiring-diagram-for-1997-lincoln.html

there is no headlight fuse, the headlight switch contains a circuit breaker that trips out when a short takes places and then resets when the short goes away.

First step is to remove the "face" of the dash its all the trim pannels that make it look pretty, In my case i had some wooden style strip across lower half of dash those pry off

Also at top of dash under clocks etc you should find more bolts. remove all these bolts and lift the face off the dash off, hear you'll see the light switch fully with its 3 or so bolts on just unbolt and lift out, you might want to make a diagram on where each wire goes.

I have a 94 Lincoln Town Car, I had same problem. Go to Strutmaster web site. Print info and have your Mechanic remove air suspension & add strut kit.

you have a bad lighting control module. $499 new, $250 from tascafordparts.com or less from ebay or car-part.com.

It is under dash above brake pedal.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Lighting Control Module Removal and Installation

1. Open hood. Disconnect battery ground cable .

1. Disengage three pushpins and remove lower driver side instrument panel finish panel.

1. Locate lighting control module above accelerator pedal.

1. Disconnect bottom two electrical connectors from lighting control module.

1. Remove two screws retaining LCM to bracket and unclip from bracket.

1. Remove lighting control module from bracket and disconnect two remaining electrical connectors.

1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Check lighting control module for proper operation.

Try checking the fuses and circuit breakers for the power windows first, if there good then it could be the the rear window lockout switch, check for continuity in the unlocked position. If it does'nt have continuity replce the switch.

I would say that your problem would be in your headlight switch. Remove and test wire leading to tail lights.
