Check engine light came on. took it to AutoZone and the code came up PO715 Failed transmission speed sensor. I want to replace it myself. Where is it located?
SOURCE: Greetings, I have a 2001
Unfortunately there are several things that code could mean. Unless you still have the number code, it's hard to say. What is not hard to say is that, Ford should have caught that and addressed it in the immediate repair. Sounds like they got all the easy stuff in hopes that you would come back and spend more money. If there is a "check engine" light on, there is an issue and should be checked out and repaired. My first call would be to the Service manager of the dealer and kindly explain the issue that the technician MISSED. If he can't do anything, talk to the General manager. Let me know if you need anything else.
SOURCE: Can't find the speed sensor location.
the sensor in the differential is the speed sensor for the vehicle and the ABS system

It should be on the back of the transmission near where the driveshaft goes in. Buy a new one, jack up your truck and look for the old one on the back of the transmission
SOURCE: Where is the vehicle speen sensor located on a 99 ford f250
should be on the top of the trannie, some have them internall yin the Rear end, very few but some do

If it has RWAL only, the sensor is in the rear end. If it is ABS brakes, there are speed sensors on the front wheels as well. If there is in fact a speed sensor in the tranny, it is most likely internal.
