My xk8 jaguar is skipping and i had a oil change they put 2 quarts in too much . That is when my problems started.

Can you help me with this problem i had my oil changed after the oil change they put in 9 quarts it only call for 7 quarts . Then my car started skipping badly . Do I need to change the fuel filter ?

What is skipping? two quarts is bad get them to let some out your filter is ok

my jaguar is skipping in running just awful after to much oil in engine . I had 2 qts let out it still sound awful .

it is maby not the oil but to much is not good what year is it and ill try and help

i do not think your fuel filter will cause this , a little to much oil for a short time wont .
maby sompthing was knocked off when thay changed your oil

is the engine light on maby diagnostic codes can be found that is ware to start
if thay checked your air filter look at the mass air flow meter

Security is set. Could be one problem. Fuel system can do this, but rarely. Takes a scanner to see where to look first.

How minny quarts of oil dose a 96 olds aurora hold

A typical automobile holds 4-5 quarts of oil.....Depends on the size of motor. If changing yourself, Drain out all oil, change filter, put oil plug back in. Put 3- 31/2 quarts back into car. put oil cap on and start car. Let run for 2-3 minutes then shut back off. Wait for a few. Pull out dipstick wipe, put back in then pull out a second time...Now you know how much you need to top off level.

MY 1998 JAGUAR XJ8L IS TURNING OVER BUT WONT START. MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN DRIVING IT AND SAID A "LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT WAS COMING ON. I JUST CHECKED THE OIL AND THERE IS NONE IN THERE!!! HOW MANY QUARTS...

Start with one quart but continue to put it in until the level reaches the full mark on the dipstick. Your car requires synthetic oil, 5/30w is fine, personally I wouldn't put synthetic in right away as I would check to see if it starts first and then if it does, change all the oil to synthetic asap. I say this only because there is no point pouring expensive oil into an engine that may require major repairs...which is possible if it was run low on oil for any length of time.

Transmission fault on early Jag XK8

I had similar problem but worse. Mine would not reverse uphill! I changed oil and filter in torque converter and solved the problem.

My 97 xk8 had that stability problem. now it will not start,

code p1111 is system pass code p0333 is knock sensor 2 high input (bank 2) code p1643 is can link engine control module/transmission control modual circuit/ network also see if your car has a fuel pump shut off switch also other safety features on cars to protect against damage trans and oil fluid pressure also ckeck your neutral safety switch

Jaguar XK8 Remote Locking problem

check your lock relays located in the interior fuse panel. Sometimes the actual connections to the fuse block can come lose and the relays wont work properly. My 2000 silverado did the same thing till i bent the pins on the relay for a tighter fit.

My convertible top will not close lock and slow to come up

This is a VERY common problem with these xk convertibles. The most common is the fluid thickens up and the motor has trouble moving the top up and down. What you have to do is perform a convertible fluid flush, which is a pretty difficult task. Jaguar has updated fluid for this flush but it cost like 90 buck a quart, luckily you only need one but its pretty labor intensive. If your look at a dealership to perform this repair is pretty expensive.

Which bung do I remove to change gear box oil

Claire it should be in the engine compartment and it is usually a yellow dipstick and dont forget to check you must let your engine run zas you check the level

Hi michelle2551,providing the oil dipstick is the right one for your car then if it reads 1/2 qrt low it should be topped up typically when an oil change is performed and the car is started it will fill the oil filter therefore appearing a little low, it may read full initially but once it is run and shutoff it reads low follow the manufacturers oil level indicator and top it up hope this helps good luck
