Hi,
There are known issues with fuel delivery system on this model and I was made to understand that there were recall orders for fuel related concerns. You may want to reference this page or this page for additional insights.
What strikes me is that your Nissan pick-up is exhibiting the same problem. You may want to consider other possibilities such as:
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back year and model of the Nissan (gas or diesel), how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Hi again,
Appreciate the postback/comment. Another possibility other than the fuel pump.
Re you recent post "...fuel pump... run some of the time...", have you checked the fuel pump relay? I am suspecting that the relay is intermittent. A temporary workaround/test is to directly supply +12 to the fuel pump. Alternately, you can try hardwiring the terminals of the relay to simulate an ON condition. In some versions/models, the relay would be on the left front fender along with other relays and power distribution box/elements. You have to confirm this, terminal #24 dark green wire with black stripes.
Cheers.

This seem issue with the fuel pump. heating causes the fuel pump coils to heat and stop functioning. replace the fuel pump and that will fix the issue.
Have you changed the fuel pump? This sounds to me like the problem.
Thanks,
Lee
then you need to test the fuel pressure. It could also be your fuel pressure regulator. Please reconsider and accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,
Lee
if you have taken it that far apart i would just change the pump and the regulator, and see what you got then. I am sure it wouldn't hurt either way.
Thanks,
Lee
when it is on the van and you turn the key forward and you don't hear it, it usually means its bad. Usually you can get a fuel pressure tester from your local auto parts store as a loaner tool. If you can change the fuel pump yourself then you might as well if you have the tank out anyways.
Thanks,
Lee
I figured that was the culprit, glad you found out your problem for sure and glad I could help.
Good luck and have a great day,
Lee

The
most commonly diagnosed component is the shifter and/or shifter solenoid on your Impala.
GM issued a bulletin on this problem. Contact your dealer, they are aware of the problem and you could be covered under warranty. Below is a copy of the bulletin.

Will the fuel pump squirt out fuel when the fuel line is disconnected from the fuel injection system if the fuel pump isn't working? It seems like there is something telling the fuel pump not to work when it should be... cause it pumps when not connected to the fuel injection system.
we are afraid to buy the fuel pump if it may be something else... and not the fuel pump. It is a pricey item to purchase to find out there is something else going on. Is there a way you can tell that the fuel pump is not good when off of the van... or partial disconnection?
Is there anything in the computer system that would be telling it not to run or in the fuel delivery system, PCM or ECU that would not allow for it to run. Or a malfunctioning sensor? We want to make sure that there isn't something less expensive interferring with it working before we unnecessarily replace the fuel pump. We don't want to buy something that we didn't have to. We will buy it if we are pretty sure that it is what we need and it will solve the problem.
We did look up the recall info for the van... nothing matches it. We don't have the faulty parts on the van that it lists. Weather isn't overly cold or overly hot. We live in oregon. John is afraid to replace the fuel pump... since he can get it to run some of the time. He really thinks there is something that is telling it not to run.... a different component that needs to be replaced which then would make the pump run correctly. We are on a tight budget and to throw 200 into a pump if that's not it... isn't an option.
The Nissan pickup king cab chugs once the pick up has been on for a while (once it's warmed up). He replaced the fuel filter on it as well (it was going to need it soon) but it wasn't the problem. He's been told that the pressure component needs to be replaced.
Don't think it is the gas... we emptied the tank completely. The gas tank looks great inside.
first to respond... and it was the fuel pump. Thank you.
