Car ran fine to i let a freind check it he said he only pulled the 2 spark plugs n coil wires n check the oil supposedly he didnt start the car which i doubt..to start off it was low on gas and might have run out is what im thinkin..he said he try starting after he put it together and it didnt start it kinda sounded like it wanted to but didn,t he said after a few trys at the key a whining noise started up. n now when ya crank the car all u hear is a whining noise is coming from the front of the motor sounds like the starter. could it be the starter that went. car ran fine til my freind touched the car

This sounds like the timing belt is shot. Remove the distributor cap, have your helper crank the engine. Is the rotor turning?? If not, then it is the timing belt. Some engines are rather forgiving when the belt breaks, some will get bent valves. Frankster016

It is your battery it may not be completly dead but it is too dead to run the starter. It take 300 -600 amp to run a starter and 20 amp to run a stereo
