1999 Buick Regal--Red oil light came on when stopped. Car didn't die, but would not accelerate. Turned ignition off and restarted, and was fine. It did this only one time before, with same results.
I should add that I had the oil changed after the first occurrence, a couple of weeks ago, and was told that it had been one quart low, with a slight leak at the oil pan gasket.I should add that I had the oil changed after the first occurrence, a couple of weeks ago, and was told that it had been one quart low, with a slight leak at the oil pan gasket.
Would the low oil pressure or bad oil pressure sensor make the car not go? It is still running when it does this, but will not go forward.Would the low oil pressure or bad oil pressure sensor make the car not go? It is still running when it does this, but will not go forward.

P228C, it has applied exclusively to diesel powered vehicles. It has also meant that the powertrain control module (PCM) had detected a low voltage signal from the control circuit of the electronic fuel pressure regulator, which reflected insufficient fuel pressure.
You could always try to find a used one at a salvage yard that's in good shape. You may find its cheaper than cleaning yours altogether and if the place is cool, they MIGHT even let you return it if it isn't the issue. Even if they only credit it, at 190K, there's gotta be a few things you need for it! Just a thought! Good luck!
My 1999 Buick Regal GS was doing the exact same thing. Replaced the ignition switch on the steering column and everything worked fine. You can buy one online for around $85. Installation took me a couple of hours.
You need a new ignition switch they are notorius for going bad and with the cruise and turn signal indicators there is an internal switch problem replace it.
I have a 99 Buick Regal and it too dies out, but only when I use my turn signals. Sometimes, when trying to start the car...the dash lights would flicker and you can hear some sort of electrical ticking sound. As of today, my car will not start (5/24/09) it hadn't turned over since yesterday. After a process of elimination and searching the net, I think I need a new ignition switch. You may need one as well.
