I just had this same problem - vehicle starts and dies - starts and dies - runs and starts well sometimes.

Coming home from the airport at 0200 it just quit underneath me - would try to start then die.

Thought it was something real bad - it turns out it was my ingnition switch - replaced it and we are back in honda land.

The vehicle would run as long as the key was held forward of the starting spring - release the spring and it would die.

hope this helps

Have u checked for spark? U can pull a plug wire off, install a plug in the wire (saves u from taking a plug out), place plug on metal surface, crank engine while someone watches for a spark. If no spark check coil and ignitor (inside distributor). If u have spark check to see if u have gas making it to plugs. Crank engine over (no more than 10 seconds, give it a 10 second rest, try again for 10 sec. etc, ) After doing this for several minutes, pull a plug and check it--it should be wet from gas. If the plug is dry, u aren't getting gas (change fuel filter, check fuel pump). countrycurt0

1992 Honda Accord Check engine light

Hi check all your air pipes for any splits or rips, poor seals. the air flow meter or air mass sensor may need changing, clean then firstly as they can get very dirty.

As you say you take your foot off and then back on to get more power this could be a Idle control valve/ this gives the correct amount of fuel to air to make the car run properly.

Check these first if no joy get back to me.

My check engine light comes on and a few seconds late the D4 start to blink

The check engine light indicates that there is a problem with one or more of the engine sensors (knock, airflow, etc.) this can also include the transmission sensor.

The possible transmission problem may be causing both warning lights to trigger even before the vehicle's driving performance is affected. Warning lights are indicators of the car's parts that may need your attention. Just like a toothache with our bodies.

Don't wait for any drop in performance before you have this problem checked out by a qualifed technician. Early intervention has proven that is saves you the trouble and greater expense.

Hope this helps.

No cold air. compressor works for seconds and shuts off

Replace the compressor, if it quits running after a few seconds, it is more than likely your compressor causing the problems

1993 Honda Accord-shuts off while driving/won't start up

I had the same problem. My car would shut off without any warning, I changed my Main Relay located under the dash, right below the change slot on the left hand side. I have not had a problem since. The price at Napa Auto parts runs about $68.00. This should fix your problem.

92 honda accord intermittent crank but no start/ tranny issues

I know that early 90's Honda's had problems and in fact a recall on the distributor. Might want to replace the distributor. Inside of the distributor is a part called the igniter which is the ignition module and that is what normally goes out. I cannot remember if you have to replace the whole distributor to get the igniter or if you can just replace the igniter itself. Has been a few years since I have worked on one. hope this helps but if not please contact me. I'm not sure about the drive light flashing thing though, new one on me.
