What is the honda's timing belt replacement schedule for 95 accord; and how can I tell if it's been changed without spending big $$ ? I just purchased car from lot with 114,000 miles on odo.
If the timing belt has been replaced recently, a mechanic can inspect it taking the cover off, and tell you, that won't cost big money.
If it has been replaced 50K miles ago it wont be possible to know.
If the car has 114K miles, I suggest taking it to a mechanic and replacing the timing belt.
In our side of the world, we try to replace it after 90,000 km and your car is way overdue then. probably because we uses km here instead of the miles.
you can not tell if it has been replaced unless you will take it out and recognize if you can if it is still new. i would doubt if it was replaced.
tnx,
drcool
Timing belts last a 100,000 miles easy. Even the owner's manuals will generally state the replacement interval for a timing belt or serpentine belt to be over 100k 5 years. It is just inspections up till then.

are timing belts likely to break after 114,000 miles on accords?
I guess there is no simple answer to this question.
