I figured out the phantom problem in a 2001 tracker with a 2.5 ltr
it was the idle control valve or iac. the part inside that has a stem gets worn and falls loose and closes the air passage. because the iac electrical part is still working the pcm thinks that it is working fine. if u remove the iac and leave it connected to its power then turn the key in the truck to on position not start position but on position. do this for a few times and if the part is worn it will fall out. i feel that any one with a tracker who has the mystery stalling and starting problem. might want to have a closer look at the iac. especially if u have rpm issues when the inside car fan is turned to its on position. spread the word and save a ton of money on this one nidle in hay stack found!
