Hyundai accent alarm doesnot activate. I had an accident recently. I crashed into another car from my front left side. After repair, my car gets locked via remote, but alarm does not activate. The mechanic said maybe the staff unplugged a fuse, but they are not sure. Is it possible whether they forgot to install the plastic piece on the hood activating the alarm? (When the hood closes it touches a button connected to the alarm system) Any different solutions? Thanks..

it may be worth while changing the battery in the remote as it takes more power to send the frequency to disarm than to illuminate the l.e.d.

on the 2002 Accent we have, the area is clearly identified w/the "cutout" area and marked SRS Airbag...perhaps look at Hyundai.com at the owners' manual online, or look at used cars/junk yards to compare dash panels to yours...would think it VERY difficult for avg person to perform this task

hi from uk to renew front disc(rotors) and brake pads on the accent are not beyond the mech minded diy er and can easilly be done if you follow instructions on the haynes manual etc and would save$$$$s in dealer charges ? if you diy as for the rear brakes they are drum brakes with shoes that are auto adjust but again can be done by diy with help of manual ? as for cost of parts ? you can obtain/price of all parts from good auto shop/superstore also a manual ? then by all means obtain a quote ? for local garage to do the brakes with cost of labour and parts ? then consider option of diy? i am sure you will be tempted/inspired if you browse the work involved hope this helps? contact again if you feel lucky? will be glad to assist if you get stuck? or req info ? merry xmas from uk

The procedures you list require the Hyundai Keyless Remote programming module, which you don't have. This module is proprietary - only Hyundai Dealerships have it. There is a 10 pin connector under the dash (next to the DLC - Data Link Connector) which is used to connect the Keyless Remote Programming Module. This module has two switch positions "Ready" and "SAVE". When the switch is place in the 'SAVE" position, that's when the keyless remotes are activated to send their 'codes' to the Electronic Time and Control System (ETACS). The module's switch is then set to "Ready" and the remote is tested to see if it works properly.
