If you don't have a code scanner, you can take it to most auto parts stores and have them read. Since you have a post 1996 vehicle you have a OBD2 system and can use about any OBD2 compliant error code scanners. The socket is located to the right of the steering wheel, under the dash lip.

You can reset the check engine light with the code scanner when you read the codes.

How do you replace fuel pump on 2004 kia rio cinco 1.6 liter

First determine where the pump is, I am not familiar with this model. If it is inside the tank the replacement is much more difficult, some models have access areas in the trunk or under a seat.

I have a 2004 Kia Rio Cinco. Riding 2 miles from my home, car sounded like it blew a belt, car instantly quit and coasted to nearest place to park. It did throw a timing belt. In trouble shooting, it not...

were the RPM's high(above 3000) when the belt broke? if so that would explain the engine failure. the car has an interference engine which means if the crank turns a few revolutions after the camshaft has stopped then it can cause some major engine damage.

04 kia rio , engine made noise than stopped ,now wont turn over.

That's what happened to mine when the timing chain broke.. my 04 cinco had about 80k miles on it at this point. Unfortunately I warped the valves when it happened so it cost a small fortune to fix :(

2004 Kia Rio Cinco problems

Hi

If the check engine light is going on and off then it is very highly likely pointing to a misfire, and this could be due to any number of things, and your best bet by far is to have a code read done as this will give you information as to the cause of the problem, if not point you directly at the problem itself.

It could be coil packs, spark plugs, injectors, crank sensor, cam sensor, any number of things.

Regards

Geordie
