2002 Cadillac Escalade is leaking power steering fluid from what appears to be a weep hole on the bottom of the hydraulic brake booster. Does the entire booster assembly need be replaced or is there a replaceable seal between the booster and the master cylinder? Where can I find a Diagram or Manual on this component?

Are you talking about brake fluid --power steering lines do not connect to the brake system --- also their is no weep hole at the bottom of the brake booster ---can you please clarify what is leaking and where --power steering lines from pump to radiator to steering rack ----brake booster mounted to fire wall with brake master cylinder bolted to front

In this case the power steering system and break system are married together at the firewall with the Hydroboost system. It eliminates a vacuum brake system, but causes a lot more headaches and $$money$$. Also, there is a weeping hole between the brake cylinder and Hydroboost, but unfortunately it doesn't have a seal kit that I know of. (Not as of when I had to have mine replaced last year and may have to again under warranty this year). It's a brake/ steering system that they should have left alone in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love my Escalade and it's my 4th Cadillac. It's just that they try to improve their product and make it better, but wind up making it worse in some cases.

Brake pedal hard with engine running, same as engine off

Check fluid levels in your power steering/brake reservoirs and look for hydraulic fluid leaks in the power steering and brake lines. Could be a bad power steering pump too. Your owners manual should show positions of hydraulic reservoirs.

2002escalde wont brake pedal goes all thedown

you may want to check these solutions, sounds like it could be the brake booster. check the vacuum line the goes to the booster. disconnect it and start the truck, air should be sucking into the line. also there should be a one way valve on that line. make sure not to forget to check your brake fluid..it could be low or none at all.

I have 2 larger f series ford diesels. Both have the Bendix Convac vacuum pump, both are broken/leaking oil. Neither truck needs vacuum to assist the brakes (1 air brakes, 1 hydromax assist) but both...

When you say airbrakes, do you mean that the vehicle has airbrakes, or does it have hydraulic brakes with a vacuum brake booster? As far as replacing it with a 12v vac pump, there might be some DOT regulations prohibiting this as it involves safety issues. If one has the vac booster, it is leaking brake fluid and not oil. The hydrovac booster will leak either as it uses power steering fluid from the P/S pump to do the job.

Our 2002 Cadillac Escalade has a problem when pulling into parking places or making tight turns. The whole vehicle shakes and bumps and it feels like there is no power steering.

There could be a problem with the rack and pinion mechanism.

First, check the fluid level in the power steering pump.

If the level is ok, service to the rack and pinion will be necessary.

Power steering went out along w/brakes

Does it have a hydroboost brake booster? Is the belt still on the p/s pump? Have you checked the power steering fluid level? If yes and good to all, replace the Power steering Pump.

Lost all power steering fluid and brakes

Hi Salmancasmi,
On vehicles with a hydraulic booster you will find that the power steering pump supplies fluid through bot the steering gear box and the hydraulic booster.
Just a visual inspection of the system should point you to the part that failed, most likely a hose. These can be obtained through your local parts store or dealership.
Locate and replace the failed part, refill the reservoir with power steering fluid. With the front of the truck on jack stands, start the truck and turn the steering wheel from full left to full right several times while pumping the brakes. This will remove the air from the system. Recheck for leaks and fluid level and you'll be on your way.
Hope that helps, good luck.
