Hi,i just bought an 98 1.8 20v passat,and i have an anoying problem,the dashboard clocks all are working fine except that the water temperature indicator and fuel indicator dont work,and it shows me that i am always out of fuel any tips please

CHECK FUSES IF CLOCK OK THEN TAKE OUT THE DAHBOARD AND REPLACE THE BULB FOR HI BEAM INDICATION.DISASSEMBLE THE COVERS OF THE SWITCHES BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND CHECK FOR WATER REMAINS.IF U NEED MORE INFO LET ME KNOW..

IF THE CLIMATRONIC DOES NOT GET ANY TEMP OR TEMP BELOW 5 DEGREES CELCIUS IT WONT GO ON!!!THE AC IS NOT WORKING!!!THE PROBLEM U ARE HAVING SEEMS TO BE A BAD CONTACT AT EITHER THE CONNECTOR AT THE TEMP SENSOR OR AT THE CONNECTORS UNDER THE RIGHT SIDE {DRIVERS SIDE}CONNECTORS LOCATED UNDER THE PROTECTIVE CAP OF THE STEERING HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR OR THE PLENUM CHAMBER {BLACK BOX LOCATED AT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR JUST BESIDE THE SERVO}LET ME KNOW IF U HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!!

sounds like the thermostat is stuck open, meaning the engine is not getting up to running temperature. would be best to change the thermostat and give the water system a good flush out. and back flush the heater core. as you don't know how long this problem has been around it can cause rust build up in the engie as flow is weaker. when topping up use a good inhibitor antifreeze/summer coolant 50/50 mix. and run for a year with this mix in and replace it. and flush again this should of then sorted the corrosion in the water system.

1:hi i have a stilo 1.2 only bought it last week, when i bought car it was flat now its running and all the lights lit up on the dash now the dash dont work except the airbag light. can anyone help or has anyone come across this on theres

It's the ice risk warning star symbole (*) flashing on the dashboard when outside temperature turn to 39 F. It's normal, and nothing wrong with the car. Just drive carefully!

sounds like a relay is going bad

If your car is not overheating then it works fine. I would replace the temperature sensing unit and drain/replace the thermostat. The most expensive part would be the temp sensing unit. The thermostat with gaskets is $15, the fluid is $25, and it is not difficult to drain. Hi All, the very same thing happened to me. Cold weather broke my radio and the display screen stayed on with the time and temperature but the radio wouldn't work. I rang Renault & they said I need to come in an get a new radio but I put it off. In the end the problem started affecting my battery and the car wouldn't start. But then when I jump started it, it also started the radio again perfectly. Problem solved!

You have the wrong KEY if it won't turn any locks.
You can use the KEY fob from another Passat.
The one you have was most likey not the original
and the car was reprogrammed to except that FOB.

The Fuse panel Is inside the DRIVES side.
Open the Driver door. Look at the side of the DAShboard.
THat Giant "B" Shapped plastic cover pops off.

Check the fuses...IF any are broken,black or no good.
REplace them

you are right it the cold weather that makes this happen i am here in mich and one day the cd player would not work until the car warm up in side my 2003 taurus.
