Notice if your SECURITY dashboard light is on when the key has been turned to the on position. If it is then your security feature needs to be reset. The security feature will often come on when 2 failed attempts to start the car have occured or the battery goes dead or is replaced. I believe to reset the security feature you have to place the key in the ignition and turn to the on position without starting the car and leaving it there for 10 minutes. Just wait it out and the light will go out. Then take the key out and try restarting. I've been through this many times. You need a good battery to leave the key on for 10 minutes. Take it easy!
These cars had a tendency to "lose" the password
for the theft deterrent system. Your body control module doesnt
understand your key, therefore tells your pcm to discountinue fuel
supply. To reprogram the system, start the engine and let it stall.
Leave the key in the run position. The theft light should flash for 10
minutes. When the light stops flashing, Turn the ignition off for 10
seconds. Turn the ignition back to the run position. This procedure
tells the BCM that on the next ignition cycle, to accept the new
password. Now, it should start. If not, it may require the clearing of
the code, and possibly the reprogramming of the PCM, which needs to be
done with a dealer scan tool or equivilant.
