Check engine light on and car is shaking - 2008 Hyundai Accent

Major transmission problem. That's what the flashing Check Engine light means.

If the Check Engine light is on all the time, it means there is a "fault code" stored in the computer. Take it to an auto parts store (like Auto Zone) and ask them to read the codes to see what it says. They should do it for free. If they won't, go to another auto parts store.

Blinking means that the problem is so bad that it can damage the engine if you drive it. You need to get a code reader from an autoparts store and read the codes to see what the issue is.

The shaking may be a separated tire.

If the check engine light is on there will be a code. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes to see why the light is on.

i have a 2003 mazda protege. this is the third time my check engine light has come on. the first time the car started to shake when i stopped at a light and the check engine light came on. i had a readout done and it said misfire. i took it to a garage and they changed my spark plugs and wires. 2 weeks later it came on again and my car started to shake whenever i stopped. readout said misfire. they fixed the coils. it has been 2 weeks since then and my car started shaking again whenever i stop and the light came on. what could possibly be wrong with it?

I had the same problem. It was the intake gasket, very common in this model. A $12.00 gasket - Nissan wanted $1000.00 to install it. I got it done for $327.00 - engine light still remains on but car drives just fine.

Not sure what is causing it, but it sounds like you're running on 3 cyllinders. Check plugs, wires, timing . timing belt may have jumped, bad injector, low fuel pressure.

I WOULD ALMOST BET THAT THE SHAKING OF THE CAR IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THUS ONE PROBLEM. IT COULD BE BAD INJECTOR(S) OR JUST POOR MAINTENENCE. Your engine has a cylinder miss-firing, that not only shakes the car but makes the check engine light blink the cylinder number that is missing, don't drive the car this way or u will overheat the exhaust catalytic converter, this can cause a fire.
