Well, I'm experiencing the same problem and what I'm going to do for mine is this. I suspect a lot of water in my tank from heavy storms and a leaking gas cap, so what needs to happen in this case is to drop the tank, empty all the remaining fuel out of it, blow the tank out with compressed air, mine is fuel injection so I will pull the shrader valve from the fuel rail, use compressed air to blow out any residual water from the fuel rail and out the fuel line at the back of the car which should remove any water in the fuel lines, reinsert the shrader valve into the fuel rail. Then blow out the fuel filter, put the tank back up and rehook all the tank stuff, then add fresh clean fuel to the tank, cycle the key on and off so the fuel pump pushes fuel up to the fuel rail, press the shrader valve to bleed off air, and then the car should start due to no water left in the fuel system. Hope this helps someone!! Btw mine is a 2004 Pontiac grand am GT 3.4L.
They have additives that remove water from fuel,, however that depends on how much water your talking about, if your sure this is the problem,, I'd drain the tank, and start new if you suspect a bunch of water got in,, you might also check the distributor cap for moisture in there, that causes missing and bad running also
