Tip & How-To about Toyota Tacoma

How to repair a tire

Occasionally, we all run over a nail or a screw on the road. Repairing the tire with a plug is a very simple repair which requires almost no technical ability. Follow these steps, and you will be driving again in no time.

1. Buy a tire plug kit from your local auto parts store. The kit comes with the plugging tools, glue, and several plugs.

2. Raise the tire off the ground so you can rotate the tire. It is easiest to repair the tire off the car, but it is possible to do it on the car as well.

3. Locate the puncture. Simply rotate the tire until you find the nail or screw.

4. With a pair of pliers (side cutters work best), remove the nail.

5. It may be necessary to **** (clean and enlarge) the puncture. For this, use the round tool that looks like a file. Simply insert the tool into the hole and twist it back and forth. Push the tool all the way through the tire tread.

6. Take a plug from the kit and fit it into the hook of the second tool. It should be approximately centered on the tool. Coat the plug generously with glue and push the tool and plug into the hole in the tire. Do not push the tool too deep, as the plug will fall off of the tool inside the tire. The plug should be inserted deep into the tire, but the two ends of the plug should protrude from the tread at least 1/2" (13 mm). Remove the tool, leaving the plug in the tire.

7. Inflate the tire to full operating pressure and watch for leaks. A second plug may be necessary on large punctures.

8. Reinstall the wheel on the car and lower the car to the ground. After tightening the lug nuts and putting everything away, you are ready to drive the vehicle again.

What is the clicking sound in my right tire on my ninety four acura vigor ?

Without looking at the tire or actually hearing whether or not the "clicking": is coming from the tire, I'd have to say that most likely your tire has taken on a hitchhiker: a screw or nail that is "clicking" when it taps the the ground with each tire rotation. Does the speed of the clicking speed up and slow down concurrently with your speed? Have you had to fill the tire lately or semi-regularly? Inspect the tire carefully tread and sidewalls and between the treads....If you do find a screw or nail, don't pull it out as it's all that's keeping you air from really coming out. If you can safely drive, take the car to your selection of tire/auto shops/mechanics, or perhaps put on the spare if you'd feel more safe. As long as the puncture isn't on the side wall or too extensive (and there's actual life in the tread still!) they should easily, quickly and CHEAPLY be able to plug the puncture for you and have you back on the road again in no time!

Good luck!

tire light is on

The easiest way is to take it to a tire shop. I dont know if it runs off the abs or a tpms sensor. I work at a tire shop an i would reccomend taking it to one. They have the equipment and knowledge. They usuall dont charge to take a look. You could always jack the car up and take each wheel off and look for nails, screws, thorns etc. Normal tires should be at 35 psi. Put it at 40 a run some water over it. Like i saud the the tire shop is your best bet. They can repair the tire if possable and necessary, as well as clear the tire light. Hope that helped.

tools for repairing flat tire cars

if its just a nail, you should take it to a mechanic with the proper equipment , because the tire needs to be removed from the rim and patched on the inside, plugging tires is not safe.
