Overview, mounting screw drop and "loss" is virtual certainty when removing lamp retainer ring because screw falls behind amber marker/parking lamp below where it cannot be seen or extracted by hand, leading to significant delay completing the replacement task. The following extra precautionary steps ensures lamp replacement of under 15 minutes (first time) and under 5 minutes after that;

CAUTION
Most headlight retaining rings and trim bezels have
very sharp edges. Wear gloves. Never pry or push on a headlamp; it can shatter
suddenly.

A good kitchen or household magnet placed on the shank of the screwdriver
will provide enough grip to hold the screw during removal.
