1989 acura lost reverse and second gear
Time for a transaxle rebuildThe trans fluid change should not be done on a failingor slipping transmission & I don't suggest a flush everagain on any trans, you chance breaking cooler lines& getting debris into the solenoids
Why wont my 1989 acura legend start, it cranks up but it wont start?
Probably your fuel pump. If its EFI remove the cap from the shreader valve on the fuel rail and turn the key to the on position. Listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump kick on. Leave the key on and press the shreader vlave. if fuel doesn't come out hard and strong then either it's the pump (most likely) or the fuel pump relay might be bad. That relay can be changed with other relays of the same part number in the fuse console under the hood. Try switching it out and see if the car starts. If all that checks out good then the next step I would take is to look at the cam / crank sensor.
New altenator new battery but battery light stays
Hi!!
Your best bet is to remove the battery or the negative battery cable, charge it and drive your vehicle to an AutoZone, Checkers or similar Autoparts store to have your charging system checked. If the engine is running, even if you disconnect the negative battery cable it should stay running, if it dies, the alternator is not working, probably the voltage regulator. If you just bought the alternator, try to take the vehicle to that place so they can check it. If you don't think the car would make it to the auto parts store. Remove the alternator and the battery to have them tested. It is not unusual that an alternator fails when just out of the box. Good Luck!!

1989 Acura legend white smoke from exhaust and
white smoke maybe a sign of a blown head gasket, crack in cylinder or head, letting water leak into 1 the cylinders.check and see if you have water(coolant)in the oil,if there is ,it will look kind of like a bad chocolate/vanilla milkshake mixture.if any of this is true then your looking at rebuilding the motor, which should be done by a qualified automotive tech, and get the extra warrenty if possible.
How to advance ignition timing on acura legend
When a car has a distributor, loosen the clamp under the distributor and turn the distributor clockwise/counter-clockwise to ge the appropriate timing. There is usually 1 bolt holding the clamp tight against the distributor. Determine which direction you need to turn with the timing light as your guide. As alway's, be careful of the moving parts!!

Im trying to remov a hormonic balancer on a 1989 acura legend
You will need a harmonic balancer puller if you don't have one you can get it for free from part source from their loan a tool program. DO NOT WACK WITH A HAMMER you will damage the harmonic balancer for sure! Every job is easier with the right tools my friend!
Over heating
One fan comes on when the Coolant sensor reaches a certain temperature, and the other fan comes on when the A/C Compressor is turned On.You can measure the voltage going to the fan for 12 volts using a Voltmeter. If it isn't getting 12 volts when it is supposed to, check your fan relay (it should click with the fan turns on). I’m happy to help further over the phone at

New fuel pump and relay still wont start , spray a
Hi Patrick,The only thing I can tell you is that it sounds like you have narrowed the problem down to either a FUEL DELIVERY problem or a FUEL INJECTION problem (since it starts by spraying fuel in the intake). You need to check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail to eliminate the fuel delivery system, (This should have been done before replacing the fuel pump and/or relay.)If the fuel pressure is within specifications, then you need to diagnose your fuel injection system.
