2001 Ex 5-speed. Whining noise when reviving the engine mainly at lower RPMs after warmed up. Ideas on where to start?

That is symptomatic of a power steering pump problem. Get a length of plastic tube and put one end to your ear and the other end by the steering pump and then by the alternator. A tube stethoscope is great for tracing noises. Mine whined when it was low of fluid, I had a leaking pipe.

Winshield washer motor does not run

The wiper and washer motors us the same fuse. So if the wipers work, it's not the fuse. The washer motor wiring, the top wire is voltage, bottom wire is ground. As you can see, at the wiper/washer switch, #5 sends voltage for washer motor, you can see the wire colors. If good voltage and ground and no washer action suspect the washer motor. Before replacing anything, make sure the plumbing from washer fluid to windshield is not clogged. washer 1-pivzycofcmbi0i4mslo0ckpd-1-0.jpg washer 2-pivzycofcmbi0i4mslo0ckpd-1-2.jpg

I removed a a/c compressor for repair a magnetic

You removed the AC compressor? DId you block it in like A-6 compressors or just open the system? If you did not block it in, then you are required to flush the whole system replace the R/D or dessicant and check the OT or EV. Then you add the oil or seal and add oil charge and evac it and then charge it. This is not going to be cheap. You could have just R/R the clutch without taking the compressor off.

Why would my steering wheel lock up when i was backing up?

Check your power steering fluid to see if it is low. Also look to see if it looks like the belt is slipping. You may have a power steering pump that is failing.

Overheating when I sit idle.

Over heating the engine is a serious concern. With the hood raised you should hear the motorized fan turn on just behind the radiator as the engine requires additional cooling.. If you look in from the rear of the radiator you should see the fan blades. This electric powered motor operates on a thermostat and when the engine temperature rises this fan should come on. I'm assuming from your description that when driving and air is flowing through the radiator as the car travels the engine is nor overheating. Check fan motor thermostat, check fan motor and check wiring. Wont turn over on cold days or after sitting for several days

Have the battery tested with a carbon high discharge tester, if its ok check for a light in the glove box or rear trunk that is staying on due to a faulty switch. or you could disconnect the battery , if it goes flat it is faulty, if it stays ok a light or something is running it down.
