My check engine light came on shortly after

Well in the newer cars you cant have the car running when filling the tank.

Take it to either advance auto or autozone and they will have a scanner. Tell them you dont know what the code is. Watch how they hook it up.

They will let you borrow it, but for what they say are "liability reasons" they wont clear your codes. Just hook it up and use the scanner. Really easy, menu driven device. And it will save you a bundle compared to what the dealer wants I'm sure.

72,000 miles on 2.5l turbo. check engine light on

There could be a hundred causes for a check engine light. First step is to hook up a computer scan tool and see what codes the computer has. The next step depends on the codes.

I pulled the CEL code P0031 from my 05 Outback.

this is a hard fault, this means u have a wiring problem, the sensor was good, that is why the PCM set a code for the same fault right away.

Cd in dash changer has jammed and now cd's won't

I don't know if the unit has lost power? does it light up still? if so then the carriage has dislodged from the load tracks, a compitent electrician can reset them unless the load motor has burnt in it, then it will be cheaper to replace the unit. If this is the case, sit down at the table one night with pliers and screwdrivers and have a play at dismantling it to retrieve your cds, sounds like fun? Good luck

Rear window wiper not working, also, AM radio stopped working

check fuses, when you turn on the rear wiper, can you hear it running, if so, sounds like the bolt has come loose or the teeth are sheared on the arm, remove the little plastic cover on the back and have a look. alternatively, if there is no sound, ensure the conection plug hasn't been unplugged accidently, I believe it is located behind one of the inside corner panels, there is another in the roof area, you will have to pull the rubber tubing/gromet out between the tailgate and the roof to check the connection. Good luck

How to replace power window switch on 2005 subaru,

The Haynes service manual (#89101) shows the window switch panel is only retained by tensioners that are part of the panel and that the method of removal is to carefully pry the entire panel out of its mounting hole. Once the panel is clear of its home, the switch appears to also be only pressed into the panel seat. I think you will find that the switch has 'quick disconnect' connectors that will pull off and plug onto the new switch.

Fuel Filter for a 2005 Subaru Outback

In 2005 Subaru moved the fuel filters to the fuel tank for both 4-cyl and 6-cyl cars. What is confusing is the statement in the owner's manual about replacement intervals; the statement actually only applies to 4-cyl cars. Even though the filter is mounted in the tank, this is still a replaceable element on 4-cyl, but not on 6-cyl. The 6-cyl filter element is part of the entire fuel pump assembly (a $300 assembly) and is not sold separately. Therefore the 6-cyl filter is intended to be a "lifetime" part, which really means it gets replaced when the fuel pump fails and the entire pump assembly is replaced.
