2000 Suzuki Vitara won't shift to 3rd and 4th gear and speedometer doesn't work

You need to have a OBD2 fault code test run, I think you will find there will be fault with the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)

Engine dies Suddenly

hey they all do, eventually and for sure never doing tune-ups. ever get one in the last decade, no >? wow. then posting with no engine stated, and is and ENGINE problem and no country stated, we have (USA) 3 engines, other countries, up to 7 offered and diesels. truth is it can be 50 reasons to stall, that shop can not fix cars that are not broken, !! unless SUPER LUCKY. they scan it and see nada. because its long gone the cause. it's called a stall. and stalls are simple in physics, or in theory but have 50 causes, in parts causes, a and about 1 to 10 tests to find. there is the truth for yah. cause 1 is not it, lost 12vdc to EFI system. cause 2, can you save the stall with fast right foot.? you waited 5 minute to try again, why? most do it in 1second to avoid getting rear ended.... wow. that was brave. if it starts right back up. it can be vast numbers of things. physics, 1: bad engine, (say a valve stuck open and stalled) 2: bad spark, say not getting a tuneup it 17 years. wow.... 3: bad fueling, say bad gas or leaking injectors or dead. now the mid size list , tests. say you have tools and can use them,, many guys can. for sure old guys.. who did for 60 long years. tests and inspections etc.: compression ok, at spec, (a tool) spark plugs new if gas engine. no engine stated but bad cops. J20 or H engines have them. or bad boots on said cops none last 17 years, NONE. bad filters, air and fuel bad fuel, old fuel or water contaminated. might be gone now.... injector tests, pressure, and leakdown tests, and injector balance testing. Or just want a guess. sure never tuned up ever never once did the 60,000 mile repeating service points. at the least. .or EGR stuck open and stalled and will repeat. the key factor was, preventing the stall with a fast right foot you didnt so we can never know whats cause. this adds air, doing that, and if it recovers easy. it is a good clue.

Vitara just stopped

if it is over 60.000 miles or 100.00 klms it may be a broken timing belt you can check that by seeing if the cam shaft is turning when you crank it over run the fault codes for problems as ti can be cam/crank position sensors failed , immobilizer operated , fuel problem, ignition module failure first check is easy, the next check ( fault codes ) is a must to not waste money

Halfshaft will not come out of passerger side differential

Try Autozone's loan-a-tool deal. The typical half-shaft remover is a fork that fits between the inner CV's housing and the transaxle case. The fork is attached to a slide hammer, only takes a blow or two to pull the half-shaft free. Another way is to get a large screwdriver or pry bar or punch, use it against the inner CV's housing, tap it outward with a hammer. If you can get a good whack on it, it usually frees the axle. There is a circlip (ring) in a groove on the inner end of the shaft. This circlip fits in a corresponding groove in the transaxle gears. Once the ring clears the groove, the axle will slip right out.

Is there an ascending unit in a 2000 suzuki Grand Vitara

you used to service stations to prove its full. using auto shutoff? if not do that first. no need to condemn any gauge for that. or use a dip stick into tank filler and see if it is really full. sure there is a sender unit in all cars. all. the sender test is covered in the FSM. clearly alldata.com too. and at suzuki pit stop plus (google those. 1s hit every time) only 2 tests. tell you which is bad. the gauge or the sender first check the fuses, for ever and ever all electrical failures. but usually the whole meter sections go dead with a fuse.

Suzuki Vitara no power to starter, every thing else electrical works.

2000 VIT (which engine, 1.6L 2.0L?) what transmission, A/T or M/T auto or stick? chip, what chip.>??? there is no starter chip the NO Crank this is called. did use jumper cable jump , off a running good car? yet. this is the #1 first check. (starter motor work now? yes, bad battery or simply discharged) jumper starts, dead? that means we need to do test 2. we hot wire the starter, motor solenoid. jump tiny wire to big lug there. it cranks fast, (wont start, keys are in pocket for safety) yes? good no crank hot wired is a bad starter or seized engine. (turn engine by hand?) yes, cranks hot wired. that means the KEY line is dead. (bad PRNDL or bad Clutch switch) if input to above switch is bad the ignition key switch is bad. some VIt have an immoblizer. so the light for it must not glow. if opted. see the tricks section !!! the below shows all possible test. and all ways to fail and how to find it. http://www.fixkick.com/nocrank.html

Suzuki vitara wiring diagram

There is a starter fuse that is not located in the fuse box, it is actually a fusible link mounted as part of the battery terminal. As a check you can by-pass this with a short piece of wire and try to start. This fuse blows easily for example if someone tries to start the car when it's in gear. Hope this helps.
