1990 Ford Taurus - Page 9 Questions & Answers
My '90 taurus quit running and won't start. it
He's talking about the TFI module located plugged on the bottom of the distributor. I would listen for the fuel pump if it is kicking on or not. If you turn the key forward don't start the car listen for fuel pump to kick on. If it's not kicking on then you have a bad fuel pump. Fuel pressure can be checked with a fuel guage on fuel rail pressure should read 30psi. TFI module can be check if you buy the scan tool for it. In the late 80's to early 90's the TFI module's would get hot and fail. Always keep and extra TFI module with you if that's the problem. Check for fuel first before doing the TFI module.

How do I change the transmission of ford taurus.
1st this is not really an easy thing to do, if you are not comfortable with major car repairs I would not attempt it. If you are comfortable with this repair, there are so many things to tell you on how to do this that we do not have enough space here, you should buy a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car, and follow the steps listed in there. You may be able to find one of these repair manuals at your local library. Please let me know what you decide.

Something is zapping the battery in 1990 Ford Taurus
You have an electrical drain in the vehicle somewhere. The first place I would check is the dome lights, if they are off you will need to start eliminating each individual circuit. To do this you will need to get a 12 volt test light. remove the positive battery cable and connect this test light (one end to the cable and the other to the battery the test light will light up at this point) this is completing the battery circuit, next go to the fuse panel and have someone watch the test light, the first fuse you will need to remove is the dome light fuse. If you remove this fuse and the light goes out then you have a constant drain in the dome light circuit which could be a blown bulb or bad door switch. If the light stays on then leave this fuse out (due to the doors being open)and continue 1 by 1 removing fuses until the test light goes out, keep in mind if the light doesn't go out go ahead and reinsert the fuse to eliminate any confusion on where they go. Once you find the circuit that has the problem then we can diagnose what part may have failed to find your drain but more than likely it will go out with the dome light fuse removed. The door switches on these cars had some issues.
Air Bag
You should be able to pull the Airbag Fuse.
Tail light problems
Probably because it blows immediately because the short is now a dead short. The hot wire is completely against the ground not just rubbing. Has the car been hit in the back at any time? Look underneath and see if any wires are hanging down.around the tail light area. Your looking for a wire that is rubbing against metal . Could be inside the trunk behind the covers .
