Removal and replace radiator on 1990 ford taurus

  • Remove the pressure cap. Place it aside for the new radiator.

  • Drain the coolant into a drain pan. The drain valve is located at the bottom of the radiator. Twist it counterclockwise until the fluid starts to drain. Close the valve when the coolant stops draining.

  • Locate the transmission lines at the bottom of the radiator. Ensure you mark both of the lines so you will know which one goes where. Unscrew these with a line wrench. Plug the line with a towel to prevent the transmission fluid from leaking out.

  • Unscrew the radiator hoses at the top and bottom of the radiator. The hoses are held on by hose clamps that can be loosened with a flat head screwdriver. Slide the hoses off the radiator with your fingers after the hose clamp is loosened.

  • Pry the overflow hose off with your fingers. The hose slides over a tube at the neck of the radiator.

  • Unscrew the mounting bolts at the base of the radiator. There will be one bolt on each side which can be unbolted with a socket wrench.

  • Unsnap any sensors connected to the radiator. They will have quick connect fittings that can be undone by separating the tabs and pulling apart.

  • Unscrew the fan shroud with a socket wrench. The fan shroud will slide off the top of the radiator. You can also remove the cooling fan as it is held onto the fan clutch by four small bolts. You will need a socket wrench to remove.

  • Lift the radiator out from the hood. You may need assistance as the radiator can be heavy and awkward to lift.

The power steering resoivoir drains out after 1-2

    Hi:

Check to see if you have a Power Steering hose leak ,Open Hood and Have someone inside turing Steering wheel back and Forth slow. While you have a Light and Locate your Leak.

Power Steering System is a Sealed System, Sounds like you have a Hole in 1-of your Power Steering Fluid Lines(Pressure) More that likely. or Return line.

If its leaking at the Pump where your hoses go in it might just be a Rubber Seal. But the most common problem is a Hose is Busted Open.

    What Type Of Engine Oil

you can safely use anything between a 5w30 and 20w50 in our climate. the viscosity range isn't that critical since it is determined by the climate and heat anyway. you can find out what the manufacturer recommends for your model in the owner's manual, or at an advance auto parts store.

I have a 1990 ford taurus and the battery wont

Hi, you will need to replace the battery as it is cracked if its leaking water and acid. This is why it will not hold a charge. If this auto is over heating, and the water and antifreeze is at is proper level and over heating, that's the place to start is to buy a prestone flush kit and clean out the cooling system. If it over heats after you continue on, you may have a faulty thermostat or the radiator may need to be rodded out by a shop.I would try to clean it your self first as this may solve your problem at little cost to you. Check your hoses to see if they are weak by grabbing hold on them as they have a spring inside that prevents them from colappsing closed as this will cause it to over heat. You may have to have it checked by a mechanic if it continues after you have done these checks as there are other things that cause over heating like a head gasket, warped head, cracked block and so on. Check your water pump for any signs of a leak from the bottom hole. Make sure you use a 50/50 mix of antifreeze. I hope I have given you some direction to follow. Please don't forget to rate me and I know you will be kind. Good Luck,

    Car will not idle down

Hi my name is Tom and I am here to help you.

There are many reasons why a car will not idle down the most common is a overly advanced timing. The timing is checked by using a timing light, if you want to diy. If not, have someone do it for you.

This should solve your problem. If you still are having a problem let me know and I will give you the next most likely cause. Either way, please let me know how the timing turns out.

Please take the time to rank my helpfulness. This is the only way I can get better at helping others.

1990 ford taurus s/w idling high. any ideas?

Sometimes a high idle can be caused by the oxygen sensor being faulty. These are available cheap on E bay @ CBS automotive. I have a contour which had the same problem. I got two sensors for under $60.00 and have had no problems as of now...Hope this helps.
