Could be a crankshaft postion sensor ,have you tried that ? Or some other sensor that is an input to the PCM , one that receive voltage from the PCM's five volt reference circuit . Do you know what that is ? Like the TPS - throttle position sensor , It has three wires , one is five volt reference , one is ground to the PCM an the last is the signal to the PCM . All three wires come from the PCM . If the sensor starts to go bad it can short an bring down the five volt reference circuit shutting down the engine . The MAP , ECT , TPS ,EGR , Check for five volts at the TPS after vehicle shuts down , the gray wire , if less then five volts you have a problem in one of the other sensors . First let the TPS connector connected an back probe the five volt circuit , is it 5 volt's ? If less ,disconnect the TPS an see if it changes . I hope I'm getting this right . There are videos on youtube . 5 volt referenceHow to check the 5v reference circuit for short to ground Cadillac
Your belt tensioner is not repairable. That doesn't mean it couldn't be repaired if the correct parts were available, but they are not.
The tensioner is replaced as a unit.
did you replace it with a new starter or a wrecker starter, maybe a bad starter. check the teeth on the flywheel they maybe damaged causing the starter not to engage. you may have to shim the starter. were there any shims when you pulled the original starter off.
The clutch is probably worn out and slipping and needs to be replaced. With a manual transmission, if the engine revs and the car doesn't accelerate at the same pace, the clutch is slipping. This usually gets very very worse almost instantly. The clunking could be related or it could be an unrelated problem you're just noticing now that you have a slipping clutch. Has the car recently made clicking noises while turning sharp corners or in reverse? If yes, maybe a bad CV joint. If you don't have the technical aptitude to remove the transmission and replace the clutch, I suggest taking it to a shop to have them check into it. Clutches are a wear item and go bad around 90,000 miles of use.
More Serious--- like rusted out brake tubingneeds to be replaced or you blew out a flex hoseNothing to do with the event of a sudden stopThat car is so old you need lots of restorationwork i would guess, just to be safe to useMay be a good time to part with it
on older models we had a procedure as follows.hook up a remote starter switch turn key to on position and crank.if there is no attempt to start or fire then the problem is in the electrical wiring. won't run in ignition on but will run in ignition start position. They used to use fusible links that blew when they got old.hope this helps.
