Fuel filter is either there or along the frame rail under the truck.You may also need to change the plugs,wires and oil.

its in the box on the passenger side of the fire wall. remove the hoses and electric connections and remove the box youll see it n there

You take off the differential cover in the middle of the rear end and theres a lock you slide out on both sides inside the rear end on the side walls each rear axel on both sides has one. Take them out and the axels will slide out.

check all fuses and relays,check coils.check to see if your rotor is turning under the dist. cap.If not your timing chain came off

you need an air impact gun to get retaining bolt out/off, then a pulley puller special tool to remove the pulley once the bolt is out, the pulley is pressed on.

Have you checked that your coil is grounded?

I think the firing order is 1-3-4-2. The intake might or might not be marked which cylinder is which. Hope this helps

I had an S10 do this once, it was an absolute nightmare. The solution I found with mine was the ECM was bad. But one of my friends did the same thing and there wasnt anything we or the local shops could do for it. He ended up selling it. Hope this helps. Not sure what your working on.

Have you tried replacing or testing the fuel pump and/or filter?

if it is cable driven, then unplug it at the trans an spin the inside of the cable with a drill at slow speed and see if the speed moves, if not then change the cable.

Injector pulse is also based on fuel pressure I would check the fuel pressure regulator.

If you felt a loss of power, you had to press on the gas harder before it died, you may want to check on the fuel filter.  Otherwise you may want to check on the fast idle valve or pcv if it needs cleaning, or vacuum hoses if they have leaks which may be the cause of the rough idle if its an EFI engine. 

Try to jump start it with another car if it starts you will probably have to let it run for a while or connect a battery charger failing that the battery probably hasnt got enough amps to turn it over so it may require replacing! good luck

Check your Idle Air Control Valve (IACV)

You hit the nail on the head. Chances are the sending unit filter "sock" is clogged. Most of the time you can clear it by blowing compressed air back through the tank.
I would however, inspect the suction line from the fuel pump to the tank for rust obstruction and hoses for de-lamination.
Disconnect the line just before it goes into the tank and try to blow air through it just to make sure it is not rusted shut.

Try looking for the spot where all your wires come together, near the rear bumper. I was having the same issues until I found the problem today and fixed it. I found a loose ground to the frame the bolt holding multiple grounds was loose. I found it near the rear bumper. I tightened it up and everything started working correctly.
