2000 GMC Sierra cranks wont start
Hello, 9-10 volts is not enough to keep a modern vehicle running. Taking in consideration the age and model of this truck, it could easily be an alternator failure.
I hope this helps.

The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is located in the stream of intake air and measures this intake flow rate by measuring a part of the entire intake flow. It is what they call a hot film and is supplied with electric current from the Engine Control Module (ECM).
The temperature of the hot film is controlled by the ECM to a certain extent. The heat generated by the hot film is reduced as the intake air flows around it. The more air, the greater the heat loss. Therefore, the ECM must supply more electric current to maintain the temperature of the hot film as air flow increases. The ECM detects the air flow by means of this current change.
The OBDII people suggest that before you replace the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with compressed air or by using a cleaner on the mass air flow sensor. Truly, all that may be wrong is a build-up of dirt.Unfortunately, in your case, replacing the Mass Air Flow did not work. After replacement, did you reset the code and drive the vehicle?.
I suggest you replace the air filter and check for intake air leaks.YouTube has some good videos on how to do this, one by Eric the car guy and one by Scottie Kilmer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CPqbaSgcokhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMok2y05jNE
Are high and low gear electronic on a 2000 sierra
Not absolutely sure, but common problem is broken solenoid in trans mission which can be seen easily once you remove trans pan. Look for solenoid which has popped out of the tabs which hold it together.
Heater and ac sometimes won't work til i drive for awhile
Many of those type trucks have a fuel gauge issue...I don't think it is in relation to your heat and cool problem...I know people have had to change the complete fuel sending unit assembly to fix gauge...It wasn't cheap...Should have been a recall but it wasnt...However I don't have enough info for the heat/cool problem...Is the blower motor running all the time or does it not run until you drive for awhile..?..Some blower motors that go bad won't come on until they are jarred or tapped with a hammer...Maybe it is vibrated while driving and finally comes on...You have to listen closely to make sure if it comes on when you turn it on...If it always turns on when you flip the switch then it sounds that your HVAC blend vent doors are very slowly opening...This could mean the door actuators are wearing out or the plastic vent doors are contaminated at the hinge and slowly opening.......So check the blower motor operation first...If it don't blow until you drive the motor is going bad...First make sure all fuses have a good connection..sometimes they vibrate out...Also blower motor relays. If a blower motor relay is bad the blower will not come on at all....A faulty relay will not work the fan at all....If the blower motor comes on when it wants to it has to be a bad motor or improper connection....Sometimes a motor will operate but doesn't blow..This could mean the fan has torn loose from motor....Best way to troubleshoot blower motor is remove it,inspect fan connection...,hold it safely in your hand while an assistant turns it on.....Good luck..
Charging System for 2000 GMC 1500 Sierra 4x4
measure battery voltage while engine running good is 13V to 14V then over charging is 17V to 18V DC
if ok battery gauge could be defect
if not ok then look for stuck pulley on alternator belt by removing the belt and turn all pulley free.
hope it help
Transmission
If you are on a hill try to back up (or go forward) slightly, put the brake on firmly, and then try to put it in park. If your GMC has 4 wheel drive but is not clearly in 2 or 4 whell drive this sometimes keeps it from going into Park. Good liuck
