Lifter is making loud tapping
here is the truth if the lifter is gone no adjustments can be done they will have to be changed it will not do serious harm it will just go tick tick louder and louder the lifter can do this beacuse of to things ,,,its worn out or the oil pump is not pumping the oil up right ,,,,,,
I have a 2002 firebird that we have put a salvaged motor in. Having a problem with zero oil pressure per mechanical guage and instrument cluster.
Sounds like you are well on your way to finding the problem.
Although it appears you may have done so, here are the steps.
1) Somehow be sure the oil is flowing through the pick-up tube to the oil pump. The tube can get clogged.
2) Be sure the oil is then flowing at a great pressure ( 60 p.s.i.?) out of the oil pump.
3) Now see if all the passageways are clear so that oil will flow freely through the engine. To me, it sounds like those passageways may be clogged.
Engine overhaulers will drop the bare block in a "soak tank' that will soften the gunk in the passageways so it can be blown out with compressed air. Finally,
4) be sure you do not have a wiped out bearing somewhere, which is allow the oil pressure to hemorrhage out of the sealed pressure system.
God bless your efforts.
I have a 5.0L 1987
have you checked the fuel filter. this is an easy thing to foget. the pump puts out pressure as soon as it is activated. that pressure has to get thru the filter. if it can not get thru the filter you will have low pressure on the downstream side going to the carb/tb/injectors. check out this image and see what i'm telling you. the regulator only allows so much pressure and the overage goes back to the tank.
good luck and see if the filter is your issue.

No Injector Pulse on 6.0 LQ4 in 68 Firebird
Double check your grounds for your injectors and also your engine main ground. Take the ground apart clean and reseat. Sometimes that will help, sometimes not. Also check for any broken wires/pins/terminals too! Good luck!
Car running rough knocking missing
Sounds like a clogged up Catalytic Converter.....I would check that because you said loss of power...It might be clogged up not letting the exhaust out...Will be very very hot under car in front of muffler..
Speedometer tachometer temp guage not working 2001firebird. All fuses are good
The sending units for those gages are not hard-wired to instrument cluster. That info goes to pcm. The pcm then sends serial data to instrument cluster telling the cluster what to do with the gages. If some gages work and some don't, I suspect the instrument cluster. Some instrument clusters are able to do a self-test. I don't know the models years involved? Even so you would need a scanner with by-directional controls to try the self-test. Don't take my work for it, check around.
