How do I replace the power brake booster? I am looking for a link to a service/repair manual, even a Chilton or Haynes book would do! Local auto parts stores didnt stock them.

25960073-j3ypv2wzqhzzlgvrg3bd11qz-1-1.jpg This is pretty much what the booster looks like. The brake master cylinder is connected to the two studs on the left. You only need to remove the studs and pull the master cylinder aside, being careful not to damage the brake lines. There will be a vacuum line attached to the engine compartment side of the booster as well. This must be disconnected. The rod extending from the bellows on the right is inside the vehicle and it connects to the brake pedal with a clip of sorts. Remove the clip and disengage the rod. Then, remove the two nuts holding the booster to the firewall (on the studs facing to the right, and pull the booster from the engine side. Installation is done by reversing the process.

I have lost my smart remote key for my Mazda CX-9 2011. Can I program a new one myself?

You may need 2 keys to do this, possibly just one. My source does not specify if 1 key will work but here is the procedure i found With two programmed advanced keys
  1. Bring the programmed advanced keys (2) and a unprogrammed advanced key into the vehicle.
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Insert the supplementary key into the ignition key cylinder. NOTE:
  • Complete the procedures up to Step 7 within 30 s after the supplementary key is inserted.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Press the UNLOCK button on advanced key 1.
  3. Press the UNLOCK button on advanced key 2.
  4. From the ignition switch in the ON position, switch the ignition switch in the order indicated below.
  • ACC->ON->ACC->ON->ACC->ON
  1. Open the driver-side front door, press the door switch twice , and then close the door. NOTE:
  • After Step 3 is completed and the advanced key programming mode is activated, the door lock actuator operates to lock, and then operates to unlock.
  • If the door lock actuator does not operate, repeat the procedure from Step 2.
  1. Press the UNLOCK button on the unprogrammed advanced key twice . NOTE:
  • After Step 8 is completed and the advanced key is programmed, the door lock actuator operates to lock, and then operates to unlock.
  1. If programming more advanced keys, remove the supplementary key once, and then repeat the procedure from Step 2.

KEY light on when using remote start on 2012 CX9

Remote start is by bypassing the regular start system of car. The car is not reading the value for the transponder key and thinks the system has malfunctioned. (thus the red key light). He wired the remote start to by pass the cars theft system and start the car with the remotes brain and transponder value. At this point it get complicated as the cars computer was programed for a car without remote start when it was made. It won't hurt the car but some remote starts may need and additional module to trick the computer into thinking there is a key there when remote start is engaged so the red key light won't come on.
