Car does not rev
When you step on the gas the car doesn't rev at all? Sounds like the linkage or Throttle position sensors are bad.

Yes they make kits to re-polish them, the haze is oxidation. Contact your local auto parts store for the kits that are available or order them on line, don't go cheap, get a good quality kit. Autozone sells a good one follow this link to read about it.
Where is the starter audi A6 1.8T 2001
Starters have to be at the back of all motors,in order to turn the flywheelAll you have to do is get under the car & lookon either side at the back of engine block
Amplifier location
It's in the trunk, above the the right rear wheel well. There may be a few plastic screws that you need to remove to get to it.
Bad Rebuilt torque converter or fluid
try to adjust the cable from transmission that control the transmission shifting if there no cable adjust the electronic transmission shifter located near the accelerator cable
