Suzuki ozark 250

I have a Suzuki Ozark 250 2005 that has run well since I got it. This year I got it out, replaced the battery, cleaned the filter, checked the spark plug and it looked good, put gas in it and started it. I could only keep it running if the choke was nearly fully closed even after running it for 10 minutes. once I rode it, I noticed that it was backfiring when I let off the throttle. I did open the choke once I got it moving but it would die once back at idle. any ideas? Thanks Jim

SOURCE: tried to adjust mixture screw like you said and it

The likely problem is either a sticky float or a problem with the needle and seat.

The remedy is to remove the carb and pull the bowl for cleaning and inspection.

SOURCE: Ozark 250 will idle, but when throttle is pressed,

clean air filter, and clean carb with spray cleaner.make sure carb choke is free to move.look for vacuum lines off or stopped up. if trash is in the carb just draining it might not be enough, you may need to clean the jets or float needle valves too.

SOURCE: my suzuki ozark, 2001, won't

well the cherry red exhaust tells me that its getting way too much fuel, and the idle problem will continue if the float inside the carb is bad, or the needle for fuel cut off is stuck, either way the carb has to come off to be thouroghly cleaned, and check the float, it should be fverry light, and if its a brass one, shake it back and forth by your ear to listen for fuel in it, this will make the float sink lower in the carb and not allow the fuel to shut off. good luck hope this helps

I just bought new pinion an bearing kit for 2003 Suzuki ozark 250 pinion bearing is to large that was what was wrong with my old one are they two differ size bearing

Kenneth,
The bearing have numbers stamped on them somewhere. If you have your old bearing, you can match the numbers. You can measure (BOTH BEARINGS) the bearing I.D., OD., and width with a GOOD set of calipers!! I have seen, rarely, bearings that are only available from a manufacturer. Look in the yellow pages or google search for bearing supply businesses near you.. they can help you find the bearing you need.. and usually at a lower price than a "factory bearing".
We used to purchase main bearings and transmission bearings from our local bearing supply house and stocked them under the Yamaha part numbers... our costs was about 1/3 vs factory costs..

2007 Suzuki 250 quad battery is dead doesn't have kick start. Had it on trickle charger for four days still dead. Can I use a jump starter on it if not what are the recommended battery replacement

Hey Michele,, if the original battery lasted this long.. you are lucky,, just replace it. >>> Always use the exact replacement battery<<<<... your quad is designed to take the exact size and amperage rating,, trying to change this is inviting too much trouble,, When you get a new battery,, it will be charged unless you purchase one online that comes with the acid pack,, EITHER WAY - put the battery on the trickle charger for 48 - 72 hours BEFORE you use it.. This will extend the life of the battery a bunch and make it a stronger battery,, ..(this is from too many years of experience.)

I have a 2002 suzuki ozark 250 2x4 that is very hard to up shift.

Hey Barry, has the quad been flipped onto the left side,? Sounds like you may have a bent shift shaft...one other possibility is the shifter needs adjusting (some newer engines do not have adjustments). I am guessing it is easy to down shift? If the shift shaft is bent.. be careful , you can easily crack the engine case!!
