Few things to check would be >>>make sure the intake grate for the pump is clean and then remove the hood and make sure you are getting full throttle response bye checking the throttle linkage.
vx110 , are all cylinders working ?? could be plugs, injecters, or worse the valves aresticking open ! pressure drop test by dealer !! compression test also ! clean fuel ??
The start stays engaged the entire time? I would guess it's a bad ignition switch -- it would be sending power to the starter (through the solenoid) regardless of if you switched it off.
Maybe it could be a bad starter, too. I'd start with the switch.
Many possibilities. Depends on your steering system: cable or hydraulic. Could be low hydraulic fluid or broken cable, damaged gear in steering column and more. If you not familiar with that systems then take it to your mechanic.
