Yamaha RX-V3900 when powered on display reads RX-V3900 Please Wait. No controls respond. Power off, in 2 seconds it powers itself with the same message. Has this thing turned into a door stop.

no a boat anchor. the power supply inside is bad, (1st choice) we test it.

How much damage did I inflict when I plugged this 110v unit into 220v?

check electrolytic capacitors in power board printed circuit board see if voltage was over their voltage rating. Damage hard to say did the same thing to a printer got white smoke from capacitors . check if unit has a orderable 220v power board circuit board you could order. May you have blown up power circuit board hopefully and nothing else.
