I have a Yamaha Ef2600 fw generator that starts and produces voltage and current but also gives out a 'clunking' noise on a 2 - 4 second cycle. What is wrong with it?

Based on the search results there are a explanations, for the clunking noise in your Yamaha EF2600FW generator; 1. Load handling; One potential reason could be that the generator is facing difficulties in managing the load, which could be due to fuel or air supply. This can result in the generator producing a clunking noise. 2. Fuel shortage; Another possible cause might be a lack of fuel supply to the generator leading to a knocking sound. It is advisable to address this fuel issue before operating the generator to prevent any damage. 3. Storage conditions; The clunking noise could also arise from storage conditions. Over time certain components like piston slap or dry rod bearings may develop problems resulting in sounds when the generator is running. To diagnose and resolve the problem with your generator it is recommended that you take the steps; Check and ensure a fuel supply. If needed, clean or replace the carburetor. Inspect the generator thoroughly for any signs of damage or wear in areas like piston and rod bearings. These actions should help. Rectify any issues causing the clunking noise, in your Yamaha EF2600FW generator. If the problem continues you might need to reach out to a technician or get in touch, with Yamaha customer support for help. Always prioritize safety when dealing with generators or any other equipment. If you feel uncertain or uncomfortable about troubleshooting or making repairs yourself it's best to seek assistance, from a professional.

Can I bypass the control box on the ef 2400is and just run it at a high engine speed the control box is dead and is worth more than the generator so it's pretty much a throw away

The "control unit" is the rectifier/inverter. The alternator side is 3 phase (volts and frequency IDK), but the answer would be no.

No power generation

The reasons of no power generation: 1. The voltmeter of the control panel is damaged or the wiring is in poor contact. This situation is generally after the diesel generator starts normally, and the voltage on the meter sometimes does not move. It is necessary to use a multimeter to measure the U, V, W, N phases of the motor, and the phases between U, V, and W. The voltage is about 400v, and the voltage between single-phase U, V, W and N is about 230v. 2. The air switch on the electric ball in the diesel generator is damaged: the phenomenon that occurs is that the diesel generator is normal when it is started, and it trips when the load is turned on. 3. Brushed motor equipped with diesel generator: The disadvantage of brushed motor is that demagnetization occurs occasionally, so it is necessary to keep 1-2 pairs of carbon brushes to prevent this situation. 4. The starting elements are not reached: the starting elements of diesel generators refer to the speed of 1500 rpm, frequency of 50HZ, and voltage of 400v. Many users feel that the noise of diesel generators will be very large when this data value is reached, so they reduce the speed by themselves. , the consequence is that the voltage is not enough, the frequency is not enough, and the power is not generated. After a long time, the power of the diesel generator will be insufficient. 5. Damage to the voltage regulating plate: The function of the voltage regulating plate is to adjust the excitation current correspondingly according to the change of the generator load, so as to maintain the terminal voltage as a given value, which can obviously smell the smell of burning. The above are the common reasons for the failure of diesel generators to generate electricity summarized by our editor. We hereby suggest that if your diesel generator has not expired, please contact the diesel generator manufacturer to provide guidance on operation, and try not to repair it yourself. How to fix surging

Very old thread but here goes., My 2400is was surging under light load but I was able to fix that with a new idle jet and thorugh carb cleaning. Now, it doesn't respond to various loads and will not rev up, ie., stays at idle and quits. Manually opening the throttle works fine. I took out the solenoid and cleaned the spindle but didn't help. When it was out, turning it had some resistance (felt like a rehostat, a bit rough and definitely not spinning freely) . Dunno how it should feel but, for example, with the engine not running if I move the throttle (controlled by the solenoid) it will "stick" in that position and not return to the idle position by the return spring. Would like to know if that's normal or not! With the engine running, it will return to the idle position and I use a clothespin to keep the revs up even under no load. At least that way it stays running and supplies adequate power. Ideas?

Yamaha ef2800i surging up and down how do I fix it?

I have the same generator.. It was running fine in normal full load mode...but it was surging up and down quite badly in ECO mode with medium load. In my case, it ended up being the Air / Fuel mixture had slowly changed ! I removed the fancy plastic front panel... you can leave the fuel tank on although if you want a clearer view or to check and clean the carburettor main jet while you are there, the tank only requires a further 2 bolts and disconnection of the fuel line and its off. The Main Jet Screw can be accessed while looking down on the carburettor.. it is the brass flat head slotted screw with what looks to be a small hole in the centre. If you remove.. inspect for blockages in all the holes.. fuel gum / resin.. make sure the tiny pin hole (jet) on the inside end is clear. Looking through the frame where the front panel just was.. towards the rear, you will see the carburettor with a little black plastic hat covering the electronic governor .. under that, there are two adjustable screws kind of facing you, semi horizontal, sticking out from the carby body. The upper silver coloured philips head screw with spring is the idle adjustment screw which doesn't seem to come into play as the speed settings are controlled by the electronic governor ? Although it may assist with starting ? The lower right slot headed brass one is the fuel mixture screw.. take note of the screw head position and screw it all the way "IN" till it stops, counting how many turns as you go. I suggest counting how many turns on the way "IN", so at the worst, you can return the screw to the same original position if it doesn't solve your issue.. taking pictures can be helpful too. (I prefer to count in half turns as I find it easier to keep track of head slot position with a 180 degree wrist turn) Then back the screw out 1 and a 1/2 turns (or 3 half turns) this is the standard air / fuel mixture setting and is so for most small 4stroke petrol/gasoline engines (depending on fuel quality and other factors) The mixture screw usually has a spring behind the screw head to stop it from freely vibrating loose and falling out.. but sometimes, unfortunately over time, the vibration causes the screw to back out a little anyway and so changes the mixture setting. You can put the tank back on, start the motor and fine tune the mixture screw,... checking high and low rev settings, with and without load, if you feel the need. I didn't bother... What I just explained returned mine to smooth and steady operation in the lower revving, lower fuel consumption ECO mode with my standard load. BTW The screw before I reset it to the standard 1 and 1/2 turns out, was a full 2 turns out from the "all the way in" position. 1/2 a turn makes a difference ! Good luck ! I have an Ef3000iseb runs great here at or about 5000 ft. go up in the mountains it starts loading up and wont run. is there a higher altitude kit?

Yes thats true
there is high altitude re jetting in the carburator your carb has to be re jetted for the normal operation of the generator at high altitudes by the authorised personel but when you will bring it back again at the orignal altitude it will get heated quickly and may not function properly so you will have to bring the carb settings to its orignal position so be careful

Gen,set 2500w

Does your generator is single phase generator set or three phase four wire generator? Why your generator set is 110V at full load, it should be 220V or 240V to generator electricity. If it is used for industrial equipment, it should be 380V, 400V, 440V, etc. Generator technical support: https://www.dieselgeneratortech.com/support/ ????-undefined-undefined-0.jpg

Yamaha 2000 generator won't produce power, runs fine otherwise

The generator does not operate in accordance with the specified technical conditions, such as too high stator voltage, iron loss increases; if the load current is too large, the copper loss of the stator winding increases; if the frequency is too low, the cooling fan speed becomes slow, affecting the heat dissipation of generator; the power factor is too low, so that the rotor excitation current increases, resulting in the rotor heating. Check whether the indication of monitoring instrument is normal. If it is abnormal, necessary adjustment and treatment must be carried out to operate the generator in accordance with the specified technical conditions. My YG650DE Yamaha gen runs good but there is no electric power is there a reset switch or some other fix?

Here is some reasons for reference: 1.After the diesel generator is stopped, the residual magnetism is often lost, because the material used for the magnetic pole of the exciter is close to the soft steel, and the residual magnetism is small. After the shutdown, when there is no current in the excitation winding, the magnetic field will disappear. 2.The magnetic pole of the diesel generator loses its magnetic properties. 3.Damage of excitation circuit components or circuit breakage, short circuit or grounding phenomena. 4.The exciter brush is not in good contact with the commutator and pressure of brush holder is insufficient. 5.Excitation winding wiring error, opposite polarity. 6.Stator winding and rotor winding of generator set open circuit. 7.Poor contact between diesel generator brush and slip ring, or insufficient brush pressure. 8.Diesel generator lead wire wiring is loose or switch contact is poor. 9.The fuse box is fused. 10.The "auto-manual-de-excitation" switch on the control panel is in the de-excitation position (automatic generator set has "auto-manual-de-excitation" switch). 11.The voltmeter is damaged. 12.Rotary rectifier module is damaged.

Yamaha 5500P industrial series generator. It started back firing and will almost die then power back up. Was running great then just one day started this. At first I thought condinsation as it seemed to struggle with gas then the major back firing. Any ideas please.

Start by replacing fuel. Completely drain the tank and carburetor fuel bowl. Do not use what fuel you may have, get 2 gallons of fresh fuel from gas station. If problem clears then likely water in fuel.

If still backfires with fresh fuel then likely an ignition issue. Failing ignition module or possibly a sheared flywheel key. Try reducing spark plug gap to .025" .
