WD my passport 1 tb making a clicking sound when I
Unfortunately it sounds like your hard drive has failed. If the data is extremely important and you have plenty of spare cash there are data recovery companies out there that may be able to help but as far as I can tell these are seriously expensive.

My 1 terrabyte Mybook drive says it needs the raid
It sounds like this drive is configured with two drives running RAID 1 (mirroring). If one of the drives inside the case has been removed or has failed, it needs to be replaced with an identical drive so it can resume mirroring.
Raid 1 requires two had drives. Both drives are kept absolutely identical so that if one fails, the other continues to serve your files, but you will get a message like the one you have reported to let you know that a drive is missing or has failed.
If you look in the case and there is only one drive, but a place for a second, then someone has removed the drive.
If you look in the case and there are two drives, then the drive identified as Drive B has failed or has become disconnected, try re-seating the drive and check any cables or power connections. If it begins to work then, you may have solved the problem, otherwise you will need to get an identical drive and put it into the case. The raid controller will automatically identify that a new drive has been installed, then it will partition and format that drive automatically and resume the mirroring process.
I have a WD USB External HDD (160 GB), when I
Your unit is detecting the electronics on your external case, not the internal hard drive it contains. If that is not being recognized that usually indicates a failure of the hard drive logic board, not a good thing.
Remove the drive from case and plug in directly into your pc. If still not recognized that confirms initial diagnosis. Your usb port is ok but the drive is fubar and since the logic board is toast data recovery will have to be done by the pros and be expensive, very expensive.
Always a good idea to have multiple backups!!!!!!!!!
I have issues while transferring files back from
Hard drive may be going south and there may be bad sectors on it. Run WD diagnostic program on it and cross your fingers. Do not format the drive - that will erase all. If you do find bad sectors the check disk program will find and block bad sectors and move data in bad sectors to good ones whenever possible. After that you can recover as much as you can but not all because there will be areas where nothing can be read at all depending on the severity of the damage to the sector.
Have a western digital wd800
Listen, if unit will also not work in external drive , chances are that the logic board on hard drive is toast. And if the cmos cannot recognize the drive the chances of you being able to get data off of the drive are very remote unless you use one of those expensive recovery services.
Western digital 2tb my passport keeps flashing; not detected
Remove the drive from the external case it is in and connect directly to your computer - see if the bios recognizes it. If so, the OS will do so also and you can access it. Also means the electronics of the external case are no good. If not recognized in other machine, the hard drive has gone to hard drive heaven and needs to be replaced.
Halo Dear, I have one of the Western Digital My
If your WD passport is no longer seen by your desktop or laptop operating system something within the passport has failed. You won't have many options to try to resolve this, as when they fail , it is usually due to age or a component faulure. If you know an honest reliable techy you can ask if they can try to test the device for your or can recover the data from it.
Once My HardDrive Fell Of
It seem the hard drive broke when you dropped it. If the correct part has been ordered then fit it! I have done this many times using second hand disks and empty hard drive boxes.
Having done this ask again if stuck.
I have a hdd problem
Keep things simple and replace with identical unit. A screwup could prove to have real nasty repercussions.
Hi my logic board is
If there is a bios chip on the board, heat it to remove it and change it with the bios chip on the new board.
