My wd2500 is no longer recognized by my xp pro notebook.

I assume you did reboot your computer and plugged the external HDD to other USB port but still has this issue. I can only suggest to recover your external HDD to different computer dont rush it, sometimes it takes time to load.

System start-up or restart freezes when i plug in

download western digital hard drive checker https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=3 and check the drive. its probably lost its format, can happen if the drive is ejected before its safe to do so. damages data on the drive. this will test the drive and tell you the problem or in some case fix the problem. but if its damaged it will change the size of the drive.

I have a WD ext.

If these clicking sounds weren't there before, it probably means the drive failed (it's common when hard disk fails to have a clicking noise). There's hardly anything you can do, altough i would first test with another power supply and another usb cable if avaiable. In the case you really need the files in it, you'll have to find a data recovery company to send your drive (hard disk are delicate and require special conditions and tools to repair).

Sir, I have a Lenovo laptop.

If your HARD DRIVE was exposed to a magnetic field, this can happen.
Try a scandisck run.
Boot up in safe mode and run fix disk.

I have a WD Elements

Hello, the easiest way to achieve this is reinstalling the program on the hard drive. Select advanced installation, and when it asks for a path, give your hard drive's path. if you can't reinstall it, it'll be a little bit more complicated. if it's on Windows, you'll have to go into the "Program Files" folder, find your program's folder, and copy it into a "Program Files" folder (you have to create this one). Then find the main exe file in the program's folder you copied (usually <program name>.exe, right click on it and select Send to desktop (or create a shortcut) in order to access it more easily. That's it. if you need more details, feel free to ask. Antoine Viallon

Mybookworld is not comming on

Without taking it apart it would be difficult to diagnose. I would venture to guess that one small component broke internally. You may be forced to purchase an external HDD enclosure, and move your drive.

I have a macbook pro and when i plug in my 500gn

If the drive is brand new, then it is likely that it needs to be formatted. If it is an old drive you have used before, then it is highly likely that the drive has failed. I suggest you format the drive and see if that helps.
