Format the new sd card in the camera.

most Vivitar cameras don't have speakers so if you want to hear the sound you either have to download the video onto your PC with the USB cable or play it directly from the camera using the USB cable and Vivitar software.

Try a different card. Memory cards do fail.

The cable is not causing any trouble by simply being connected to the PC end. Remove all the camera drivers prior to reinstalling the software you downloaded.

Format in the camera, never with a PC

Can you put the SD card in an external card reader and see any files? Did you format the sd cards in the camera? You should never format the cameras sd card with a pc.

If the battery has puffed up sides you may need to grab the end of the battery with needle nose pliers and pull it out.

Try a different USB cable or in a different USB port on the PC. All USB cables are not alike. There are charge only and data only cables. Other cables will do both.

Since the flash is working on test, it means the connection to the camera via the hotshoe is not working. With the flash on and ready light showing that the flash has charged, take a small thin copper wire and short between the the metal spring on the side of the hotshoe (in the slot) and the round metal contact tip of the hot shoe. This should cause the flash to fire if the internal connections to the shoe are working. If the shoe is working then it must be the camera that is not working. Many modern digital cameras cannot fire older flashes directly, because the voltages on these older flashes are too high. This could damage the camera or if the camera has protection against the high voltage, that will make it impossible to fire the flash. In that case you need an adapter. These are available cheaply. You should try borrowing a modern flash to test that your camera is still working and has not been damaged, if it is a modern electronic camera.

I can find no camera with this designation. There is, however, a pair of Vivitar binoculars with a 7x50 spec - is this what you mean ? In any case, Fixya does not supply manuals for any equipment - we advise people to use google, entering the make and model (not the spec), followed by the word manual.
