My pump is humming but not pumping the water, what

You are right, it is not running since there is no water
that goes out. It is just humming - which be due to
stucked impeller or busted starting capacitor. Let's start with checking up the impeller. Unscrew the strainer, and take it off. At the suction port, try turning the impeller by your finger. This is to check if it is stucked. If it is stucked, open the bolt holding the impeller case, so that you can free the impeller from
being stucked. Once the impeller is free, you can assemble the pump and switch it on and make it run.
If it doesn't run, then the final touch is to replace the
starting capacitor at the topcase of trash pump. In
doing this, make sure that in the reassembly of the top case, you must maintain the right force to close
the top case bolts water tight. Just send you e-mail
for further assistance. God Bless you.

How can I check the year manufacture from my current Tsurumi Pump

There should be a plate on the pump that has a box on it that has the letters "DOM Y/M". The DOM stands for date of manufacture and, of course the Y/M is year and month.

May tsurumi submersible pump is overheating.do i

This is a single phase induction motor. You mentioned it is overheating. You did not mention whether or not you had easily turned the pump by hand. Pumps overheat for several reasons but these are the top 4:
1. The head pressure is too high as in the pump is being used to pump water higher than the head level of the pump. (Lift distance to high)
2. Low utility or generator voltage. Lower than the pump rated input power requirements.
3. Bearing Friction or motor / bearing mis-alignment ( 3. Pump is sitting in debris while pumping and the pump inlet is being blocked by debris. Also... if it sat in clay and the clay dried inside the pump it can restrict water passages to the point that the pump just can not pump enough water to stay cool.

Does it overheat when pumping at 15 feet or less? I note that this is actually a 1/2 Hp pump. The max LIFT distance for most 1/2 Hp Pumps is 23 feet or less using a 1 1/2 in discharge. The lift will be even less with a 2 inch discharge outlet. As for oiling the pump... Most submersibles always have oil above the impeller and it usually does NOT leak out unless the seal between the impeller and the motor stator / aramture has failed letting water into the winding. That plug you mentioned is for checking to see if water is in the winding area. If you pull the plug and get water the seal is bad. Hopefully you can save the winding.

You asked what the effect would be if you went to a larger discharge diameter. This will give you more volume but less head / lift distance.

Pump trips GFI when submerged

Check your power cable for any hole and damage, that might be the problem

if not
remove the 2 screw where the cable is connect on the pump, gently pull off the ruber from the cord and check if your 3 wire are wet ? and if any water can come out of the cable hole?
if yes you have to take most of the pump appart to make the stator and rotor get dry and also check for any black part on the stator, to make sure it not burn if you cant find any black spot on the part let it dry for a week and spray some air on the stator everyday and your problem will be fix,
At our big factory we use special oven to dry the part quicker

If you have no water that came out from the inside of the pump it has to be the power cable or your breaker the reason why the pump work fine when only the base is submerge is because the pump have less restriction (Water to push) so the engine work is very light compare when she is submerge and have to push so much water alll the way throught the hose.

I can help you if you need more info,

PLACEMENT CAPACITOR FOR A TSURUMI

being that this us a sump pump that goes in the water you need to take it to a pump rebuilding company. so that new seal are put in. I would never do a repair even on a cord to a sump pump for that reasonl. Never what to know that I made a mistake that killed someone.

Please take the pump to a company that does that. Look in the old fashion yellow pages or on line for someone close to you

Thanks and be safe

Tsurumi pump 40pu2.15s my pump only

Most likely cause is a blocked impeller. Disconnect from power supply, remove pump from sump, take off pump base to expose impeller and check for freedom of rotation. If all appears OK and pump still just hums it could be a blown capacitor - unless you really know what you are doing I suggest you employ an experienced expert to proceed further. I need to replace the capacitor of a Tsurumi

This is not a solution but... HSP-1501B is the connector part number 3A27 a partial part number for the capacitor. I know that the capacitor is item 76 of the parts list but it does not give a part number.
If your in the US you can contact them here:

Contact them with your model number. (fill out the inquiry form in addition to e-mail) They are usually very good at responding to customer needs. They should tell you where you can get your capacitor.
This appears to be a 100V 50HZ 0.15 kw Pump.
I believe it will use a 6.0 - 6.7uF 110V capacitor See if you can find the uF value somewhere on the cap.
From experience a 220V 1/8 hp pump uses a 4.7 uF start capacitor.

The motor keeps stalling.

Seem like the motor overheating and the motor protector make the pump stop,

Check if there is any physical damage on it,

Is it a very old pump?

My Tsurumi 50PMU2.1S runs very slow. I have

Hi Rob,

If it was the capacitor the pump should not start at all but if you know a electrician there is a way to verify if the capacitor is charge and/or recharge it with a ''UF'' tester

Check also if the power cable is damage or maybe was damage before and someone fix it with duck tape or anything else, and if the electric plug is very old and rusty, if so replace with a new one,

Other then that will have to check the motor and probably have to rebuilt it or replace it, when you changed the bearing did you notice any burn or damage part on the Stator?

Have a nice day

LOOSE BLACK WIRE GOES WHERE?

It should be connected to the red wire, and has to be completely inside the motor, inside the cable and this last, bolted properly on top, that is very important to prevent electrical shock or damage to the pump,

I have two 50pn 2.4s

Hi Don,

Thank you for your great explanation,

This pump really need some serious maintenance, this was cause because the mechanical seal broke down or was completely wear, check your warranty you have 2 years,

The overload jump because the pump at a motor failure, due to water,
The only way to repair this pump is to take the motor and rotor visually check if there is any burn spot or damage part if not you can try to make everything dry for a few days, replace the defect part and put it back together it might work (30%)

But if you think the electric motor run to long with water in it, It will be more worthed to replace it with a new one,

And i stongly suggest you to check the oil on your other pump, to know how is your mechanical seal,

To check the oil its the only star screw on the side of it, when you remove it try not to spill to much out, if the oil is completely clear your mecanical seal is fine, if its white like milk you need to replace it, it mean water start to infiltrate, and its worthed replacing it,

Hope i could help you let me know if you have more question,

Have a great day,

(mechanical seal is what prevent and block water to reach the electrical motor, its the part that as a big stainless steel spring with to sillicon face on top and bottom,)
