Does this happen after the computer has been running for a while? Chances are, the CPU is overheating. Do you hear the fan running at all?

With 2GB RAM or more you can install/run Windows 7 on it and it should run okay (in my humble opinion).

To install Windows 7 no need for RAID driver. If you face issues in installing Windows 7 disable RAID in BIOS, install Windows 7 and then install RAID driver.

Restore Toshiba to Out of the Box Condition If your model Toshiba laptop has a Restore partition on the hard drive then follow these steps to restore your Toshiba to the Out of the Box condition. 1. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook. 2. When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key. 3. When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery. 4. Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next. 5. Select Recover to out-of-box state. 6. Click Next again. 7. Click Next to Start recovery. 8. Restart the Toshiba laptop when there restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

You can use third party software to reset your password. There is a program called ATAPWD 1.2. You can find it on Hiren's Boot CD. After you download Hiren's, burn it on a disc and boot from the CD on start up. From menu, select Password Tools and then select Atapwd. After it starts up select the locked harddrive and press enter for the menu. Choose "unlock with user password", then "disable with user password". The password is empty, so just press enter at the prompt. If this didn't work: Choose "unlock with master password", then "disable with master password". The password is all spaces.

can it see your wifi access point?
if it can see your wifi AP would remove the remembered details and set it up again using the "view avaiable wireless networks" option......if it cannot see any wifi then i would check its enabled, the hardware on/off toggle is set to on....

the bios password is a tough one,
once i took out the bios password component, and it worked , but very small solder joints there

XP is trash, a pure virus magnet. 15 years old today. all batteries inside and outside are bad 15 years old not one will be good, and that is bad. the HDD will be bad too as will the CCFL LCD back lamps bad.(black screens forever) 2004 made, a pure relic with zero value. worse yet is the DC jack is soldered down and all are cracked now. all are, if not parked on shelf for 15 years. a better PC has pig tail jack that lasts 10x longer. like HP 8540 has. and all top grade HP and Dell have. not this toy grade old laptop

Are you using the installation disk that came with your printer?
If yes, then you uninstall everything you installed and download an updated version of the software from HP Support pages. and use that instead.
