Free map download
On some devices you have a guarantee for the latest maps (since its first use). On some other devices with model names ending in T, M, or TM you have free traffic (T) for life, Maps (M) , or free Traffic and maps (MT) for the useful life of the device. Outside of theses cases there are no free map downloads.
Visit the TomTom site to use and free map update that your device qualifies for.
How to connect phone bluetooth to tomtom
First enable bluetooth function under the menu options. (if not bluetooth menu button is seen you will need to tap the "show all menu buttons" button in the menu)
once bluetooth is enabled follow the prompts that the One XL gives you to connect device.
Please make sure your device is in discoverable mode (blinking blue and red) during the process.
Tomtom one will not start up
Most likely cause: Blown components on power board. Very common problem , usually caused by a faulty cigarette lighter lead or a voltage spike from car electrics , OR plugging in the wrong charger ( car phone chargers are at much higher voltage )BUT , sometimes the processor locks up and results in similar sympTOMs ( excuse that pun ) . Therefore , try resetting the tomtom by inserting a paper clip or similar thin wire into the very tiny hole underneath ( marked reset ). One quick press is enough and you should feel it click as its a tactile switch ( inside the hole ). Ignore any other suggestions that you need to hold the switch in or press it for 'x' seconds as they are wrong. A quick press is all thats needed. Then try turning your tomtom on in the normal way. GOOD LUCK.
I have a tomtom one and need to update map free?
Go to the tomtom web site and get the latest software from there "tomtom home"
As far as FREE maps go then unless it is one of the newer "maps for life" units you would have to pay for the update.
Also check your tomtom device when connected to the PC as some had the tomtom home software installed on that !
Black screen on a tom tom
did you already try a reset
tomtom.com, support, search for reset, sel reset(soft)
sel device, do as told.
good luck
Pin code
it is not possible...the pin code is there for the purpose of theft....the only one who can get in there is the actaul person who set the code...if that person does not rememebr their own pin...then the unit would need to be sent in for repair...oh yea...a receipt will be needed to verify that you are the original owner
How can I locate my lost/stolen tomtom?
First of all it is obivous that a tomtom has a unique satellite address to recieve information, or they really wouldn't work, right? Any search from anyones tomtom would change your destination, which is defintly not the case. A unique satallite address means the address could defintly be cloned and monitored for activity. Just as they do with computers and modems. I mean they were able to catch BTK, a serial killer, by tracing a floppy disk all the way back to the exact computer he used to make it for christ sake. Tomtom probable doesn't want you to really think about the possibilaties of tracking your GPS, as this would probably be a violation of our privacy and probably our rights. I really think they can, but why they want to waste their time with the thousands of calls everyday. They should get their heads out of their azz and make some goddam money. It is a freaking Global Positioning Satallite reciever, and it would be the stupidest thing that I've ever heard that Tomtom can't find the location of it, come on. It seems they prey off our ignorance and only care about making money.
No GPS signal?
I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working
again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that
just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory
reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory
settings.
