F24 code

In some cases I have had to replace both the touch pad and power relay board. Expensive! HOWEVER, I have, on occasion, found the wide ribbon from the touch pad to the relay board to be at fault. I have not found replacements for these as of yet. I have been able to "open" the ribbon to clean the contacts within and reassemble it to find everything working. Needless to say, my clients have been extremely happy with my ability to do so, saving them thousands if having to replace the entire unit.I found the bad connection when the lighting was dim and I saw a "flash" at the point ribbon it inserted in the end piece. Hope this helps.

I have the SC272TB Double

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Yes this has been a fairly common issue with the Thermador wall ovens as well as their freestanding ranges.

Typically the remedy will be replacing the hinges, but there is a "fix" you can attempt in the interim. At least in hope of keeping the oven light from being on all the time, hence damaging the control board which houses the oven lights transformer.

The issue with those Thermador wall oven and freestanding range doors ( especially on the freestanding "professional" line ) is the weight of the door is so great, the hinge will actually move slightly over time, other times the entire hinge will need to be replaced.

This is what I'd recommend ( also official Thermador remedy, rest assured as I am a authorized factory trained Thermador service provider ) before pronouncing the hinges need replacing though.

**This does require a somewhat involved repair, so if you don't feel completely comfortable or have any reservation to trying this, please call in an local authorized Thermador ( B/S/H/ ) service provider.**

Recommendation: Adjust the door box hinge per instructions below.

1. Pull the oven away from the wall about 12".

2. Remove the hinge box cover plates.

3. Remove the vertical side trim piece. It covers one of the screws that must be loosened.

4. Loosen the 4 screws that secure the hinge box.

5. Place a rolled up dishtowel at the bottom of the door and close the door and apply light pressure to the door while re-tightening the four screws.

See fig below

6. Re-install the hinge box covers & side trims.

7. Re-install and secure the oven.

That should do it, ( or as stated, improve the situation ) if the hinges are too far gone they will need to be replaced unfortunately.

Let me know if you require further assistance or if indeed this solved your problem.

Thank you for choosing FixYa today and good luck going forward.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

I keep getting code F34 when preheating my oven. model SEC301BS. I have to start it about 5 times before the oven stays on sometimes more sometimes less.

If you are savvy with tools and can remove the control board, you can save yourself a lot of money. Therepairshack.com offers a repair service that will fix that error code you are having. Unfortunately your Oven Control Board is failing and either needs to be replaced or repaired. Give The Repair Shack a call with your model number and they will be able to tell you if the part is available or if a repair is the only option.

Top convection oven not heating. Seems to occur sporadically but more often won't heat. I sent the 2 relay boards and oven display board out for analysis and repair. I am still having the problem.

One of the first things I check on any heating device besides the element is the High limit switches that only allow the element to work if the heat stays below a certain degree range. They areon furnaces, dryers, wall heaters, etc. They usually look the size of a small coin abouit 3/4 -1" with little wings on the side to for screws to secure them. That may be your problem.

Self cleaned sc301 electric oven now when you

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa.

You have not mentioned if the oven has displayed any error code so I will take that for what it is...there was none shown.

With that, I`d start by looking for an over-temp cut-out tripped. Since this problem started following a self clean cycle, it leads me to believe it is just that.

Here`s what and where to look for for this,

Fortunately if it is tripped, they are the manual reset type and are accessible behind the black grill/vent just above the door and just below the control panel next to the lock latch assembly.

**Turn off the 40amp breaker at your service panel or sub-panel in the home before attempting any service...safety first**

With the power off, you should be able to remove the grill and push the red button in the center of the thermostat and that should fix your problem...as shown here,
macmarkus_108.jpg If indeed the hi-limit is tripped you`ll know immediately because you`ll feel it click as you push it down. It will look like the image below...

Ultimately it could be a faulty relay board or related to the timer, but I`d start with the hi-limit cut-out tripped first.

If the images I attached are not clear or you just want more info, I can send you a complete service manual in a "pdf" attachment, however you`d need to provide an email address to where I could send it to you.

Other than that if you call in a pro just be sure they are an authorized B/S/H/ service provider ( B/S/H/ is the parent company for Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, Siemens products ).

Let me know and I`ll watch for your reply and respond as soon as I can. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Bottom oven isn't heating to desired temp. Considering swapping the heating elements to see if one is faulty - thoughts?

try thermostat first. verify heating elements operational, if so check if tstats are same. swap if so, If not jump out tstat and see if higher temp achieved.
