What does I/O too short
I/O is are the Set In (the start of the recording) and Set Out (the end of the recording). You must set these marks to master the recorded material. If you look you will see the "Set In" and "set out" buttons. YOU MUST DO THIS. If the I/O are not set you are basically try to master Nothing 0.0-0.0secs. So Set your In at the start, and Set your Out at the end of the recording. You must do this. Do not touch the Out until your recording is complete.
I have a Tascam DP-02(not 01) and need to seperate songs
You can use the track edit functions to mark the beginning and end of a song to cut or copy and then insert the song onto its own track(s). (If it's in stereo you'd have it recorded on two tracks).
Or you could consider just exporting the whole track(s) via USB (or using the SF card) onto a PC for editing with the program of your choice.
Timing of Mastering and burning final copy to CD
Hi,
I don't use my Tascam to create CDs for exactly the reasons you are asking about. I do a bounce mix to a couple of tracks and then export via usb to a PC for finalizing and CD creation there.
To answer your questions, you do always need to create a master first for each sermon on the DP-02 before you can burn it to a CD. You also have to finalize the CD to play it on other players.
Mastering as well occurs in real time, so it does take 60 minutes to create a master for a 60 minute recording.
As I don't burn from my Tascam, I didn't realize the burn time was so long though. I would have expected that to be faster for sure. I know my old 2488 MkI is supposed to burn at 4x and I believe the MkII burns at 8x. The DP-02 is newer than both and I would assume it would burn even faster.
Anyway, as I said you might wish to go the PC route. That way you can export the tracks without having to master them and burn them from the PC to CD at up to 40x (depending on the speed of your PC's burner).
Hope this helps.

Sound of the recording after burnt to a cd is very low
adjust your top knob which is called the gain, this will allow the incoming signal to be muchlouder depending on where you set it , the bottom fader is for playback volume and mixing and you should also a avolume control for your head set , follow also the recording instructions in your manual for optimal settings , there,s no reason that your recordings should come out with low volume other then your gain control being set to low , hope i was able to help , if i was please leave a nice rating ,sincerely glenn mayer
My DP-02CF comes up with no free disk space even
This is just a suggestion - back up the track to a PC using the USB port and reload and reburn on a new disc. Sounds like you may have a bad file and or disc. And by the way you worded this, has this happened before? Make sure the activity light is out and your tracks have been recorded fully before turning the unit off or you will get "end of file" errors.

Teac c-3rx low output
This is a fine deck and I fix them all the time. The tape heads need to be cleaned and then make sure you have the setting set right on the switches to the right. If you need help contact a service Technician.
I am in the Chicago area.
Tascam 238 recording deck won't stop rewinding.
Well which is it 122 mk III or the 238?
The grease in the 122 will harden with time and gear crack or lose teeth. The deck needs to be worked on. There is myself in Chicago,
Russ in New Jersey that are still working Teac Technicians. There is Adrian in CA but I am not sure he wants to work on cassette decks.
Tascam DP02 - LOW VOLUMES!
Phantom power should only be used with a condenser/ribbon mic. If you're using a dynamic mic (like the one in the photo) you don't need phantom power. Also I run my mics and instruments through a mixer, then into the unit. Also if you're mixing your masters at a low volume, the CD will play at a lower volume. Try mastering at as high a volume as possible, avoid clipping of course. But get it as loud as possible while mastering. Then the master copy should be louder. I have a DP02 and found out it needs decent monitors to mix and master. That's all I've got.
How do I get a stuck cassette tape out of the Tascam 202 MKiii
With this kind of mechanism you need to open the deck up and assist the cam wheel by hand to get the eject block and heads to go down to the stop mode. This is the only way to get a tape out without destruction to both tape and machine. I have done it a few times. If you can not do it yourself, I am in the Chicago area as Skywave Tape Deck Repair. I can get the tape out.
