feeding a mixer to mixer is tricky. try lowering the output level of peavy. record at lower level use your ear. should be -6 db

Do not put mic switch it line input the mic has a preamp that will amplify microphone ss they have very low output, by using line the tascam will take a higher levl, why would you want to go mixer to mixer?

Mine is doing the same thing. By pluging and unplugging the power back and forth sometimes I get it to read the disc and it stays on. If you get yours going then I suggest always leaving it on. It doesn't draw much. A temporary solution until you figure out how to fix it.

This is a very powerful mixer, what do you plan to do with it? Did you receive manual with unit? the manual may take several readings as thus may require steps in a certain order.XLR is a type of input connector. A microphone is not a microphone. Is your mic a dynamic or condenser mike? The condenser mic requires phantom power is it on? Are you using quality cables or inexpensive cables Does make a difference. The unit has outputs.. Let me know what help you need. Also the best solution would be to call Tascam they will help you.

You should be able to view the file on a computer. Select the file and delete it. Presumably there was an error after the file was recorded and all you probably have is the file name and a shell of a file. Hence it being only 30K. There is nothing you can do with the file. And whatever you recorded was lost. A 40 minute wave file would be massive. Try recording as MP3 for long files. You might be OK at 3 to 6 minutes with a WAV file.

Maybe the music file format isn't recognised by the player.

The 112 unit uses a cam operated transport- it may need a new 6.5" belt and some head base lubrication as well as the feedback pot spray cleaned. I do them all the time.

There are a number of things that can cause a CD not to read and then be rejected. It can be dirt accumulated on the lens, lack of correct spin up of the spindle motor- they often times need good oiling and then maybe the deck does not know the tray is in due to a faulty switch. The questions are does it focus, does it spin up to proper rate and will it read the TOC?

The tape needs to be extracted by a Technician as getting it out any other way can damage the machine. I see these failures all the time and is due to old grease and a broken Gear C. I have these gears custom made and am one of only two sources for them now world wide.

I believe that these are still available. Contact Teac for spares. They can give you the part number and cost.

I have one here at my shop that does the same thing almost. I found a gear broken in the mechanism system. The flashing LEDs tells you that the system control IC can not get the transport where it is suppose to go. The Gear C as described in the manual was the problem in the deck here. The head base was in the up position in this unit and thus would not eject. My E mail is [email protected]. Due to the amount of dis-assembly to get to the transport control section this might be a job for a technician.

Tascam has a help line at 323-727-7617. If you haven't done your homework in deciphering the users manual, I would not call them. Their service is free, but their on phone time for help is limited and they can be quite surly.
