Microwaves do normally 'turn on', in that the light comes on and the fan starts running. If the turntable starts turning and it is emitting microwave energy, then you need to take it for service or replace it. To me, it sounds fine.

I had very old parts for the tappan units but they have been out of circulation for quite some time. Unless this is a new tappan that I am not familar with, Most of those parts are no longer available. The FCC ID does not help, you need a model number of the unit to try to look up parts. A Microwave puts out radio waves and such has to be regulated by the FCC. Federal Comunications Commission. That number wont help find parts for the unit. Sorry

I gues you are misintepreting something. Maybe wattage for 110V or 220W? Take a photo and post it wth your question

Have a look at the info panel... 1 Watt is a Volt Amp.

There are several switches (usually 3) located and attached to the door latch area of the microwave. One is a safety interlock that keeps the Micro from running with the door open. At first one of the switches were sticking slightly giving you the attempted run. Then enough stuck to cause the safety to sense it. The safety usually will blow the internal fuse or house breaker. If you are going to get it fixed, best to replace all the door switches and then the fuse also. If by chance it still blows the fuse again you have other problems. At this point I think its just the door switches and fuse.

Most likely have a short inside the unit.

Unless there is moisture or grease on the control circuit board, "SE" error means you have a shorted membrane keypad. The solution is actually a pretty simple DIY job - to replace the control panel frame assembly - which comes with a new keypad already installed. Then you have blown a fuse. Check inside the oven chamber and look for missing powder paint or signs of arcing, if so dispose of the microwave. If the inside is good remove all the screws and remove the cover. Replace the fuse. If the magnetron was making louder noises prior then replace the magnetron. Since the fuse went the giant capacitor is likely bad. While the cabinet is open make sure to look for burned wires, check the continuity of thermal cutoffs, and check the main circuit-board for burned traces or components. The relays in most electronics are known for arcing (spot welding) and staying in the wrong position. Tap them hard with the back end of a screwdriver. During all of this use safe electrical practices by having the power cord unplugged. The capacitor could still have a high charge on it so be careful.

That is a big fuse. I think the filament in your magnetron has failed, and has fallen on the metal casing, causing a dead short.
